“Soo disappointing and annoying ”
Reviewed April 24, 2014 via mobile

Firstly we have eaten and enjoyed the gallery a few times before both the last place and the current one but our most recent visit will be our last.
Firstly my food was served with an avocado which had a hair on it this was easily visible if anyone bothered to check food before serving then my wife discreetly left the table to point out to the "manager" that the salad leaves hadn't been washed properly but she didn't seem too bothered until we told her there was a large slug in our salad she then came down and removed it and we ordered something different. We finished all our food except the hair obviously and went to pay. We ordered 2 takeaway coffees and paid the manager told us the coffees were on the house for our slug experience which was the first bit of an apology we got. Upon inspection we noticed we had been charged for initial salad we sent back plus a random cake we didn't have. I pointed this out and we were refunded but again no apology.
We will not be back and left really annoyed, perhaps they are doing well enough to warrant this lack of regard for customers but I would have to say this was one of our worst experiences anywhere.
We tried to be discreet about our dissatisfaction but got treated badly hence the review.

“Superb!”
Reviewed April 21, 2014

We had dinner on a sat night, we are not locals and decided to drive the distance for dinner as it had been recommended many times by friends. The premises has a relaxed atmosphere, nice jazz music in the background, candles on the tables. We ordered an Argentinian Malbec, good quality wine. Starters were a beetroot and walnut dip with flatbreads and a tiger prawn salad. Portion size was very big - the dip was absolutely beautiful. One starter would have been enough to share we felt. Mains were hake and sirloin steak. Fish was cooked to perfection with beautiful baby potatoes and veg. Steak had homemade potato wedges, friend onions and pepper sauce on the side, medium rare and again perfectly cooked. We will def return and would highly recommend - superb.

“Lunch in The Gallery Café”
Reviewed April 12, 2014

I am just literally in the door after an amazing lunch in The Gallery Café and felt I had to review it straight away.

There was three of us for lunch. Two of us had the Chicken Caesar Sandwich with a Cup of Soup and the other had a Margherita Pizza.

I had a slice of the pizza, and for a Margherita Pizza and it was really nice, but the Chicken Caesar Sandwich was out of this world, if I have to be honest, it is up there with one of the best sandwiches I have ever had, and the Cup of Soup as a added extra was the perfect compliment for a perfect sandwich.

I highly recommend people to go to this Café, it will not disappoint and it is excellent value for money.

We will definitely be back.

“Tasty food in comfortable surroundings”
Reviewed March 27, 2014

We stopped in to the Gallery Cafe for tea and scones, but the menu looked so nice, we ended up having delicious chicken caesar salads and hand cut chips!
The menu had a nice selection of foods from sandwiches, to cakes and pizzas. We had a look at the dinner menu too and it looked quite interesting.
The decor is really nice and be sure to go downstairs and use the bathroom(the goldfish were a big surprise!)
The staff were not overly friendly but we got our food served quickly enough. There was a nice vibe around the cafe, with people coming and going(both locals and tourists).
I would definitely return to try the dinner menu and to try some of the interesting beers and a local cider that was on offer.

“Gallery cafe”
Reviewed January 27, 2014

the food here is "fusion" which normally puts me off, but the place is so wonderfully designed, and thought put into the menu, albeit slightly limited options. This is all fine, but the service is what you might call sleepy. Staff were tired, unfriendly and did not seem happy to serve at all. We nearly felt bad for asking for anything! Not what you expect in a lovely, easy going joint with such a great reputation. Disappointed.
