“Lovely hotel and friendly staff.”
Reviewed April 16, 2012

We stayed for 2 nights during the saint patrick's weekend. The hotel was very busy but we found the service to be very good. The front desk staff were very friendly,as were the restaurant staff. The room was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was big and also very clean. We had dinner one night and breakfast both mornings. The breakfast was nice but the dinner was average. The chips were a bit soggy and the burger was overcooked. However, this was a minor flaw in what was a very enjoyable stay.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your stay in Loughrea. Although saddened that your meal was not quite as it should have been in the Lir Brasserie, I am pleased that overall your stay was enjoyable. I look forward to welcoming you back to Loughrea in the not to distant future.

Dear 'Maryloo55'

Thank you for taking the time to provide the positive feedback contained in your review. I am pleased that your spa break was nice and relaxing and that neither the festivities from the wedding nor 'Club L' impacted on your relaxing break. Stayed for 2 nights during the weekend. Hotel was fab, staff - friendly, food was very good but could be hotter.

Then there is the music - if you are planning on a nice quiet break do not bank on it, ask for a room away from the back of the hotel! Music is very loud we even bought ear plugs after the first night......

Room Tip: ask for one to the front of the hotel!!!!

Dear '63Michele63'

Thank you for taking the time to write a commentry in relation to your recent stay.

From your review it seems like you may not have been briefed on the things to do in the area by the staff here for which I apologise. The town iteself I acknowledge is quite quite apart from the numerous pubs and restaurants but thankfully less than 5 minutes drive from the Hotel you will find Pallas Karting (Europe's Largest Outdoor Karting Track), Dartfield Horse Museum and Equestrian Centre, Loughrea Golf Club and of course 'Lough Rea' or a little further (less than 30 minutes drive) the heritage town of Gort, Thor Ballylee, Coole Park next stop Galway City.

In relation to your specific comments about the Hotel itself, I am am saddened that your accommodation didn't live up to expectations for which I am sorry but delighted to hear that you enjoyed your spa experience.

Notwithstanding your recent visit I hope that you might return to Loughrea and discover some of the things that East Galway has to offer.

yours sincerely,

Karl Reinhardt

Hotel staff are very nice. Rooms are very dark, I have read a few reviews on this hotel and it seems to be a frequent complaint.
Cobwebs in room, stains on bed sheets/curtains.
Didn't eat in hotel so cannot comment on food.
Spa is wonderful, a great experience.
I would not stay here again as there is nothing to do in LoughRea other than stay in this Hotel........

Room Tip: Don't pay an upgrade to a "lake view room" Hotel is infront of a run down ghost estate...

I would happily have given this hotel four stars but the music blaring from the nightclub below was at a ridiculous volume. It's a shame considering how much the hotel has to offer, I would not send my mother, mother in law or anyone who wanted to go on a leisurly break without packing them a pair of ear plugs. On our arrival we were placed on the second floor. The decor in the rooms was lovely and we had a lakeview room. The food all during our trip was lovely. We had breakfast sent to the room on the first morning and we went down for breakfast the second morning. It really is worth paying the extra bit to get it sent to the room as there is a lot more choice on the menu and I found it hard to find a few bits when I went down. The dinner menu is excellent value at 25.00 per person for a lovely three course. The staff was very pleasant. We spent a few hours in the Thermal Suites and mud chamber. Housekeeping was always prompt. Its just a pity about the noise coming from below. The music started at 8pm on the Sunday night. When we rang down that this was a bit early, we were told the DJ was practicing. I thought this was a bit much considering then we had to listen to seven hours of banging music. Thankfully I pack ear plugs all the time so we had a lucky escape this time but its really not acceptabe for a relaxing break.

I stayed in the hotel and could not sleep due to the lack of sound proofing in this hotel! One would think that a modern hotel which chooses to have a night club would invest in some sound proofing but clearly not! have to say it was such a shame as it really could have been a nice experience but instead I'm left feeling very disgruntled.

Room Tip: Do not stay here on a weekend!!!!!!
