We had 4 double rooms in the main part of the building, each one decorated to a very high level and extremely comfortable. The views from the rooms at the back, over the river Nore, were special. The hostess had a very warm welcome for us, and went out of her way to help us enjoy our family trip, not to mention cooked a beautiful breakfast the following morning.

Nothing but good things to say about the place itself. As for the location, it is a few miles from Thomastown/Inistigoe, with beautiful walks all along the Nore, right from the front gate of the B&B...cant get much better than that.

We spent a wonderful and oh so memorable significant wedding anniversary with our children and grandchildren in Ballyduff House in September. What a fantastic house in which to build great memories for all of us - and our murder mystery evening was so much fun! But one of the special memories is the very warm welcome we received from Bred and her little Jack Russell who even welcomed Raffa, our four legged friend!! The children (big and small) had fun and games on the lawn and enjoyed strolling along the river. But the house itself is so beautiful we were reluctant to leave its comfort and luxury. We were so privileged that Bred allowed us to share her beautiful home and wished we could have stayed longer. We will be back for more celebrations .....

Ballyduff House is a charming historic manor tucked away minutes out of Thomastown center on a large acreage complete with cows and sheep. Bred Thomas and Jack, her three legged Jack Russell, welcomed us and at once made us feel at home. The home is appointed with handsome antiques and family portraits of the previous inhibitants aged over 300 years old. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning for another future visit.

I cannot say enough about the hospitality and warm welcome you will receive when you meet Brede! As we were not quite proficient with our GPS unit, we got a little turned around in Thomastown, and Brede's daughter was kind enough to rescue two tired travelers and lead them to Brede's gorgeous B&B. The estate is lovely and the rooms full of character - even the bathrooms (ours with a claw-foot bathtub or brightly lit shower and plush bathrobes right across the hall from our room). I spent a wonderful evening exploring the grounds, chatting with other guests, and finally reading by a fire in Brede's beautiful library. Brede's cooking is wonderful, and we shared a fun, lively breakfast with other guests. At the end, Brede gave us recommendations for our trip out of Thomastown and, with a hug, we said a sad goodbye because we wished we could have stayed longer. I hope to be staying with Brede at Ballyduff House on my next visit to Ireland!

After making a reservation many months in advance, we finally had an opportunity to stay a night with Bree in her 300/700 year old farm house (technically part castle according to the tax rolls). The rooms were comfortable though the bathrooms are next to each room or across the hallway. Robes are thoughtfully provided. The breakfast was a traditional Irish one with many yummy items to get you going. The area is very quiet so sleeping should be great for all. There are many trails in the area and the house is situated next to a lazy river flowing by.

If you're going to be staying in this region, I consider the establishment to be a fine choice with a lovely host. Payment in cash, as with many inns, is the norm.

A second visit for a reason!!!There is, in my considered opinion, ONLY ONE place to stay in while in the environs of Kilkenny & that is the hallowed turf of Ballydufff House! The grounds are immaculate,I encourage a stroll in The Secret Garden, and the rooms are pristine. The welcome is unparalleled and the brekkie to die for...literally we were & it saved us!Brid is very much the hostess with the mostest & personalises your stay to the extent of feeling like the only person resident, which on a Springsteen concert weekend,we most certainly were not!!Needless to say we shall return with haste & miss it already! You shall be redeemed...as The Boss might put it!

My husband and I had a magical 2-night stay in July at this beautiful B&B. We arrived late from Kilkenny (@10pm) and Bred, the owner, was just as lovely despite the hour, offering us a delicious pot of tea in the living room. Her gracious Irish charm and hospitality made us feel immediately at ease. It was like arriving at the home of a dear friend. The B&B is stunning and the grounds are spectacular. Rooms range in size. Bred made our comfort her priority, as she was determined to put us in a room (much larger than we are accustomed) with a spectacular view of the River Nore. Incredible breakfasts made to order, whether you choose the "Full Irish" or soft-boiled eggs and toast. The beautiful dining room made for a very elegant setting.

The pristine countryside offered a nice balance between the hustle and bustle of Kilkenny, as we travelled back and forth. The commute was very managable, even for these Americans driving for the first time in Ireland. As previously mentioned, the website directions combined with google maps are a perfect combo.

Our stay was made particularly special by the random fact that all the guests, including Bred, were attending the Springsteen concerts. This made for some very passionate and quite memorable discussions throughout the weekend. Thank you, Bred, for facilitating such an incredible stay, which we will never forget, and for the opportunity to speak with Sue about our love of Ireland, Bruce and its incredible people. As Bruce said, "The older you get, the more it means" (Kilkenny concert 7/28/13).
