Very spacious rooms. Very relaxing and peaceful. Very slippy tiles in swimming pool. Knights Bar is in a beautiful room but lacks atmosphere. Lighting a little odd. food in the Italian was good but didn't particularly like Chicken Milanese but platter starter was amazing - two weddings each night we were there but you wouldn't really have noticed. Beautiful grounds. It just lacked something that convinced me its a 5 star!

Stayed here 2 weeks ago with the family on a 2 night deal. from start to finish I have to say these guys know what theyre at. Professional to the core. Great with the kids. Cool Italian for casual dining. Fine dining in the restaurant was simply sublime. Far beyond my wildest expectations. Definitely the best place to stay, eat , relax, unwind in Cork if not Munster. Can't wait for my next visit. It'll be for longer next time.

This was definitely one of our favorite places in Ireland. The building is really nice with both traditional and contemporary designs. The rooms are very spacious with marble bathrooms and a computer built in the bedside tables and by the door in order to control the blinds, privacy light and other features. The staff was so friendly and it's 5 minutes driving from a really local town where you can enjoy a meal and beer with locals. Right in front of the resort, there are very friendly horses you can pet and in the back there is a golf course. There are also a few restaurants in the building (one Italian where you have good wine and good food). We talked with Breffne who showed us the property and described it in detail along with its history. During our stay, there was a beautiful wedding taking place with a helicopter for the newlyweds and then fireworks in the evening. Such a great view to see. I would definitely recommend to stay here and having an event here.

We recently got married and went to Ireland as part of our honeymoon. Ironically, whilst my wife's mother lives in Castlemartyr, we had never stayed at the Resort before, although we had eaten there on a few occasions.

Whilst in Sydney Australia, we had been given the tip to "like" the Resort on Facebook, which we did and which we were greatful for. This then enabled us to take up one of the many offers they have on Facebook which then allowed us to enjoy an experience of a lifetime.

What a place! We received an upgrade to a Junior Suite which was sensational to say the least. The decor, the fixtures and fittings and the enormous bed were fantastic and, as I am 6 foot four, the sunken bath in the massive bathroom was also utilised by me!

Not to detract from our experiences, but more as feedback for this fantastic resort 1) there were delays both times we had breakfast in the Bell Tower where, on the second day, we waited close to 40 minutes for our Full Irish Breakfasts and 2) the information compendium in our room appeared to be out of date and did not clearly outline things like how to activate the electronic "do not disturb" sign on our door - which can be very important when on your honeymoon :)!

Having said that, we had dinner in the Bell Tower Restaurant one night where the food and service was fantastic. The staff asked us whether we were celebrating anything in particular and when we replied we had just got married, we received two complimentary glasses of champagne. We then "retired" to the Knights Bar and were very surprised to receive two further complimentary drinks. Unsolicited touches like these made us feel very special and just enhanced the overall experience.

The grounds, the room, the location, the staff..all of these things together just made our experience that so much more special and we would highly recommend the Castlemartyr Resort.

Room Tip: Click "like" on Facebook and take advantage of the special offers they have, including roo...

Everything about the resort is excellent, the food the facilities the grounds and above all the staff who really went out their way to make us feel welcome and even though they were extremely busy, took the time to chat with us. My only( small) complaint is the supervisor in the Bell tower Restaurant, she chastised other members of staff in front of customers, which not only embarrassed the staff member but also made all diners uncomfortable, even though if she had taken the time to listen the staff member was not at fault! I would definitely recommend this resort to friends and family and I will be returning in the not too distant future.

Room Tip: It is a long walk to the rooms from reception, ask for lowers numbers on any floor, ie, 200-210 300...

We originally booked this hotel to serve as a base for travelling around Cork. By day two, we were so relaxed and cocooned by this beautiful and friendly resort that we hardly left over the 5 day break. The weather in July was superb, we sat on the patio outside the bar enjoying the atmosphere every evening. My only issue with the hotel was the apparent lack of experience amongst the bar staff (possibly students employed for the busy summer season). They didn't seem to have a system, nobody seemed to be co-ordinating the indoor bar and outside patio service. It really was hit and miss whether you got a drink. It could be argued this added to the charm and was indicative of the non-stuffy attitude that permeated the whole resort. The room was excellent, the air-con was a god-send during the heatwave in July. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely return. We got an excellent deal from the hotel website.

We had heard of this resort from friends and were able to get a fantastic price break on a two night stay. Our room was spacious, modern and comfortable (loved the bath!). the grounds family friendly and the restaurants were very good. The Italian bistro actually had a play room for kids! The locale was central to Waterford, Rock of Cashel, Titantic Experience, etc, and you could easily walk into town. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. The guys wanted to golf on their great links course, but ran out of time. The staff was incredibly helpful, especially the bartenders trying to find an elusive Pappy Van Winkle whiskey for our guys to sample. Of all the places we stayed on our 12 day trip, this is one we'd return to in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Book early for great prices-9 months in advance
