Easy to get to the Cathedral. Fabulous views from it as on a height. Lovely architecture and famous for its bells!

It is well worth climbing the hill to St Colman's Cathedral for the view alone. The cathedral has 2 very interesting panels on the left and right near the altar. Each panel has a list of the bishops since St.Colman in early christian times. The list of named highlights the changes of power through history in Ireland, there are old Irish names, Norman names, British names.....

I am biased - I got married in this church, but it is magnificent. The scale is bigger than any other curch in ireland and it was a fantastic result that it was not gutted to accomodate the wishes of the most recent bishop to destroy the altar to comply with vatican II. It dominates the town of Cobh and is a spectacular public builiding - not many of those around in Cork and Cobh.

St Colman's Cathedral is a magnificent building which dominates the centre of the city. It has a very beautifully detailed interior with stunning stained glass windows and richly decorated side chapels. The main altar is also rich in decoration.
