If you are driving though Ballylickey you would be forgiven for passing this place as it doesn't in anyway look inviting or advertise probably the best cold plates and charcuterie and cheeses available in the area.

It has a very rough and ready outside appearance with patrons parking in random chaotic manner outside. The upstairs windows make the premises appear abandoned with junk and stock piled near the windows.

A selection of fresh veg draw you into the shop and suddenly all is better...
Good value local products and favourably priced platters and coffee. Or you can choose to wash it down with some nice wines.

I truly think this business needs to work on getting the tourists to try it out...appearances do matter to the once off visitor....

Nice staff and good food though so try it out..

“Great Afternoon Lunch Stop Between Kenmare/Cork.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2014

We were intent on stopping here for the cheese and charcuterie samplings to show our friends the different cheese in Ireland... and enjoy a bottle of wine as well. We've done it quite a few times in the past as well as used it as a meeting point to see old friends.

Everything is wonderful but I will say that I miss Val, the original owner. In the typical Irish hospitality, Val would come over and check in with everyone, even sit if it was slow. We were able to catch up with him as he was about but no one else stopped over other than to deliver what we ordered.

That said, it's a wonderful stop and the food is quite amazing... but a little bit of our memories are with Val.

“Wisdom in food - for the serious food lover!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 30, 2014 via mobile

Came to this beautiful part of Ireland for the first time with expectations high. Manning's Emporium does not disappoint. I think the secret is sourcing from small producers, a chain of which supply the deli with some truly flavoursome meats and cheeses, salumi & bread. The proprietor has a cornucopaic knowledge of his subject, is an advocate of fine things Irish, and a total delight to listen and learn from. Good "craic" with the charming locals in the caffe, a place with lots of zing, both with food and conversation. Ought to be raised to the status of Irish treasure!
And did I say we will be returning?

“Delightful deli/coffee shop”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2014

Have read the other reviews which say it all really. We like the slightly "trendy" ambiance. Like the idea of the books and newspapers which means that they welcome you to bide awhile without being rushed.

“wonderful wonderful wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2014

Have been coming to west cork forever and no trio is complete without a visit to mannings emporium. It has been turned into a wonderful coffee shop as well as keeping the deli intact, wesat outside with a delicious coffee and walnut cake and a lemon drizzle cake, both to die for, cappuchino thebedt I havetasted. Val manning pulled up a chair for a chat, a lovely man who knows his produce inside out, sources wonderful local food and persuaded us to buy a delicious oak smoked duck breast, produced in ballydehob. A true local hero, west cork would not be the same if it wasnt for our fix of mannings cheeses, home made breads and any other goodies.
Everyone, do not bypass this wonderful little store, ballylickey, west cork. On the road from bantry to glengarrif.
