“A wonderful cool dry sherry on a hot day...........”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

A friend and I had a meal here last week and it was, as other reviewers have said, excellent. We had, as you do in Mannings, a selection of cheeses and meat and salami with garlic, tomatoes relish etc and fresh bread which we selected. The quality was superb and presented on wooden boards. We decided to have one of their dry sherries to accompany the meal and it was an excellent foil for the richness of our food. We ended with coffee which was excellent - again great to see the improvement in the quality of coffee being served in Ireland. The staff are very nice and their professional yet relaxed attitude makes for a very pleasant experience. We hope to return again when we are in Ballylickey.

“Great Place”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

We were here 10 years ago first, was great and it still is. The owner Val has brought gourmet to Balleylickey.

The indoor and outdoor restaurant and the outside bar is part of a store where delicious food is sold for take out as well. It also is a wine bar with a great selection of wines. Prices are very reasonable.

What makes this place special is the quality of everything served and sold and that is why one goes there. Hard to find top quality fruits and vegetables - ample organic food from nearby farmers, great cheeses, meats and produce and wonderfully cooked food. I had the best wild strawberries I had in ages - and I was introduced to the farmer who grows them in the area! Certainly a rarity for a New Yorker! We just don't have this quality food even as organic in the City! or for that matter elsewhere around the world any more.

Me and my husband stayed the night at Balleylickey House next doors (B&B) and had our dinner from Manning. The next morning we were there for breakfast. We will definitely go next time we are in Ireland!

“Still Good”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

We were very impressed when we came across Manning's last year in the rain and have often mentioned it to other people visiting the area. So we were slightly nervous on coming back that it might not live up to our high expectations. We need not have worried. Hot sunshine had bought people out and the ' emporium ' was busy, including a visiting TV crew but the service and welcome remains the same. The cold meat platter was excellent and good value and its just a very pleasant place to sit and eat your food. Everyone is very relaxed and you don't feel under pressure to move on. Lovely stuff in the shop !

“I love cheese”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

Great place to relax with the family, the platter of local and other artisan cheese's is delightful but can vary slightly in size from time as i have had a few visits here, but after asking and receiving a second helping of bread to compensate for my husbands devouring of the first it represents quite good value at €8 p/person.

“Let me stay here a while”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

Grand place to stop and linger. We relaxed here with a delicious cheese board and a glas of Pinot Noir. OMG! You want to linger here for hours. It's a 40 year old family run wine emporium next to the road. Don't miss it and plan to stay a while to soak up the moment.
