i could not recommend the cottages highly enough. every aspect of the trip was easy and enjoyable. peter and anna were both such a pleasure to deal with, very helpful and friendly. the cottage we stayed in was cosy, cute and charming. we arrived to a very cosy little cottage, heating and lights on, a basket full of logs, milk in the fridge, champagne, tea and coffee. these little touches really made the difference and the cottage was so homely. we found a little folder full of restaurant recommendations, taxi number and local travel tips - extremely useful! our trip was 100% enjoyable and i will definately return.

We stayed in Lassanroe Cottage for the weekend just gone, and after a horrendous 4.5 hr car journey from Dublin (due to the storm-like wind and rain!), we arrived to find a well heated, cosy cottage and a bottle on champagne courtesy of owners Anna & Peter! Moments later, we were enjoying it in the comforts of the fabulous jacuzzi... It was just what the doctor ordered after the long journey :)
I mentioned that the cottage was cosy, but I mean this in the truest sense of the word and not like a New York hotel room might be described... it wasn't at all small, in fact, although there were only 2 of us, it would very comfortably cater for 4 people as there are 2 double bedrooms, one of which is ensuite.

The cottage has a fully fitted kitchen with everything you could need so we brought all the essentials with us (food & wine!) as we hadn't planned on going anywhere, lit a fire and settled in for a cosy night with some wine and a movie - Sky+ (including Sky Movies) is provided so had a multitude to choose from. It wasn't long, however, before we just HAD to use the hot tub! Again, once we got over the initial cold of going outside, the hot tub itself was amazing! We couldn't believe how warm we were sitting outside in West Cork on a cold February evening!

The bedroom we stayed in was the master bedroom with a gorgeous, extremely comfy King size bed, plenty of wardrobe space, mirrors, lighting and a separate gallery overlooking the sitting room area. But the piece-de-resistance had to be the double jacuzzi! I had brought candles with me to put around the jacuzzi but in fact there was no need as there were candles already there which was a lovely touch.

I have rented houses in Ireland before and from my experience, there are some items which come in handy as they are not generally provided such as cloths, tea towels, salt/pepper, tea, coffee, sugar, milk, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, bin bags, fuel etc so I came prepared with all of these things, only to discover that these are very thoughtfully provided by Anna and Peter. These may seem like obvious things, but believe me, they aren't normally in holiday homes so came as a nice surprise! Dressing gowns and slippers were also provided, which were handy for going to the hot tub.

The heating was on constant and we found the cottage lovely and warm.. I thought, being a cottage, that it could be cold but was very glad to find that this wasn't the case. Also, there was no shortage of hot water which was great for the shower and jacuzzi.

Lassanroe Cottage is about a 5 minute drive from Skibbereen, it's not really walking distance to any amenities, but this house is perfect if you want to get away from it all with a loved one, or perhaps some friends, but I'd recommend that you stock up with the necessities, settle in and make the most of the luxuriousness :)

On the other hand, Skibb has some lovely bars and restaurants to offer, and of course the amazing Lough Hyne to go for a (somewhat strenuous!) forest walk if the weather permits... the view from the top of "the 7 parishes" is awesome!

Overall, we had a fantastic weekend in Lassanroe Cottage and I cannot wait to return.

Ok so a quick review - this is a gorgeous place to stay! We spent 3 nights in Courtyard Cottage 1. On arrival we were shown around and given a complimentary bottle of champagne, there were rose petals on the bed and the outdoor hot tub was amazing, so much so that i can't imagine anything nicer than sitting in it with a glass of champagne and the stars all around, it was fantastic.
The cottage is fully equipped and we cooked ourselves on the first night and stayed in (until we went out to the hot tub!). We ate in Skibereen at The Church the second night and the food was really good and tremendous value. After a long day at Mizen Head, a long walk on Barleycove beach followed by fresh crab sandwiches in Crookhaven we settled in the for the night and got a takaway delivered.
We will definitely be going back, I have told everyone about this place and I was heartbroken leaving it, we will be looking forward to our next stay!

I booked this as a post-redundancy treat for ourselves as well as a break away from our demanding toddler! So imagine my disappointment when the owner rang as we were on our way down to tell us the hot tub had broken! Despair! Until he said they'd like to offer us an additional complimentary weekend at another time, complete with working hot-tub. Now that is customer service. Yes this more than made up for the hot-tub issue.

I can honestly say everything else was perfect even the stormy weather, plenty to do in the area. Or not, if you just want to watch tv and drink coffee and have baths! The renovated barn we stayed in was spotless, warm and full of character and a gorgeous bottle of champagne awaited us. Plenty of peace and quiet, never even saw the other guests in the adjoining cottage. It was just lovely!
