“relaxing getaway for young family”

We stayed at Liss Ard to attend a wedding at another venue and this place blew us away. Setting is amazing, house and rooms presented simply but stylishly, gardens and grounds beautifully maintained, full of wonderful walks and unexpected features, and exceptional food; but what will bring us back is the warmth of the welcome and the friendliness and professionalism of staff. Very rare to find somewhere that everyone is so helpful and takes such genuine pride in what they do and where they work. Brilliant

Having spent one night in Kinsale, a trip down to this serene woodland was just the ticket. Taking a whole afternoon to explore the quirky but wonderful gardens, it was so nice to be able to return to such a comfortable House and room. The staff themselves were both friendly and helpful. The House itself is impeccably kept and decorated beautifully. On leaving we discovered a few romantic packages that the House offers, which I would definately recommend. Would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone and everyone.

This is one of the best places we have stayed in! From the beautiful house/grounds and Lake lodge what really makes it are the wonderful staff. Nothing is too much trouble, we travelled with our baby and they had everything we needed from the little touches of a pink teddy left in our daughters cot to the parents kitchen. The breakfasts are so tasty and everything is cooked and baked on site! We also had a wonderful meal which was excellent value for money. If you are visiting west cork or planning a trip in Ireland this place is a must to stay.

We have just come back from a 3 night break in Liss Ard, having stayed in a garden mews room. The stay from start to finish was magical. There are lots of beautiful walks around the gardens which will appeal to all ages. The sky garden is a must! Maeve, Jenny and Xena were wonderful hostesses and there was a great variety of food on offer for breakfast. Everything from homemade brown bread to scrambled eggs and black pudding! You can also relax in the sumptuous sitting room and listen to or read the vast collection of cds and books on display. Even though the estate is very grand there's an extremely relaxed feel to the place and no one is too precious about you getting a bit of muck on the floor! Would highly recommend this place for all types of travellers!

Room Tip: We stayed on the top floor of the garden mews and found it very quiet at night.

….One and All for making our stay a memorable stay.

And why dear reviewer would I say this?

The welcome on arrival by Maeve
The team lead by Jenny, which works to make the stay so good, by preparing gorgeous seasonal food, comfortable rooms.
The grounds are huge, bring walking shoes, a lot of paths, making for some lovely strolls.
Both Jenny and Maeve are personable, welcoming warm, as well as knowledgeable about the area and what’s going

My daughter and I spent time at Liss Ard in February 2012. Everything about the estate is perfection: staff, grounds, house, food. Top rate in every way. Highly recommend spending time here.

Loved this hotel, I stayed two nights a sunday though to tuesday and with a bit of off season luck had the whole house to myself. All public spaces are set up as if you are visiting friends with a large country home. Clean, crisp white walls covered with modern art work, and wide plank wood floors are completed with large victorian windows and high ceilings. Views from the house are magnificent. Grounds do not disappoint either with a modern living art installation, "The Irish sky garden" is an earth and stone work crater created by famed artist James Turrell as ground's center piece. Staff are friendly and helpful, I had a cottage room off the courtyard with views of the walled garden and sheep. Modern and sleek designed, I felt right at home. Its a shame one of these isnt dotted all over Ireland, as this is exactly what I had hoped to find on my Journey. Absolutely do ask about the History of the house, from Famine to international intrigue... its a great story ..

Room Tip: All the rooms are excellent, as I had a chance to view several of them. Large room in the main hous...
