A great little stone circle, with nice views. Personally, I liked this as well as Stonehenge. I particularly was interested in the "spring/well" that was likely either used for ceremonial bathing or for cooking. Either way, worth a stop. The walk fro the car park are is only 2-3 minutes. For those with SatNavs, the coordinates are: N 51.564553, W 9.08702. Good hunting!

This is our third visit to Drombeg in the last 3 years. It is always a must on our itinerary for Ireland. On one of the visits the place was extremely busy with several buses full of people. Many people fail to realize that to those who study history this is almost a sacred site. To some of us it is distressing to see people climbing up on the stones and taking pictures standing on the altar in the center of the stones. On this visit we had the place completely to ourselves which meant we could spend a few moments in quiet contemplation. This is a must for any that enjoy the history of the ancients and want to spend a few moments in the grandeur they created. Do take the trouble to find Drombeg and enjoy it for the history it represents.

This is an absolutely amazing site. It predates Stonehenge in England but it clearly is of the same nature. The grounds are amazingly simple and the information boards really do open your eyes to the history of manking in Ireland. Definitely worth the struggle to find it!

A pleasant area with an ancient stone circle. Nice to know it's still around after thousands of years.
