You arrive on a very narrow, pot-holed road, but then you walk up to the Drombeg Circle and it is quite a spectacular view! The circle is within view of the ocean, and the area is cleared for you to wander around. It is enjoyable to take the stone circle in and try and guess what it was built for. It is a very peaceful place to linger for a while... if the weather allows : )

Be sure and head on to Union Hall / Glandore for a meal / pint afterwards - lovely drive.

Not the size of Stone Henge but very authentic and great for tourists to visit (as it's well signposted and free of charge) just east of Glandore village. Dating to approx 900 BC according to an archeological dig carried out in the late 50s. Try and visit when the sun sets on the shortest day of the winter.

Headed through Union Hall (stay in Seascape b and b - amazing), Glandore...., and then picked up the sign on the right down to Drombeg (betwwen 5 - 10 mins out of Glendore)
It's a 4 in walk, past the horses, to the circle and ancient ruin site. Parking isn't huge ... maybe 8 spaces for cars, so there's some 'not hanging around too long' etiquette to follow here, I think. Stop in Glendore inn for lunch / tea, on the tables outside (not cheap), for a cracking view, or head back down to Union Hall (if not managed to check into Seascape b and b) and sit on the sea walls, watch the swans pootle around, the fisherman come home , and top up your cash at the small supermarket.

After walking along an ungroomed path past grazing cows, we came upon the Drombeg Stone Circle. It was just there - in pastureland. No fences, no gates, no security. No gift shop or McDonald's. It was so......un American. I felt transported back in time. I loved it.

Very Nice Place especially when the weather is good. This Stone Circle is one of the best in Ireland. There is no fee for this attraction which makes it very popular.
