“Atlantic Villa self-catering cottages”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

Behind their B&B house, the legendary wonderful Jackie & Brian have two self-catering cottages: a one-bedroom & a two-bedroom. I stayed in the two-bedroom cottage between 23 - 28 Sept 2012, and Jackie also showed me the inside of the one-bedroom. Both are lovely cottages! The double bed is super-comfortable and the hot water is solar powered. The kitchen area was well-stocked for cooking each night. There is a wooden dining table & chairs, plus a sofa in the living area with rugs on the flagstone floor; and the cheerful decor made the cottage very cosy and snug in the unpredictable autumn weather. There's a peaceful terrace area to sit outside the cottage when the sun shines; and an outdoor fire that can be lit if you want to sit and gaze up at the stars at night. J&B gave fantastic advice on what to see and do - both near and far from Valentia; and their hens' eggs, their muffins, soup and honey are all completely delicious! Thank you for a fabulous time, Jackie and Brian :o)

Spent a night here and from the moment Jackie opened the door to greet me I felt at home. Lovely welcome, and the house is full of character and charm. I had a great room on the second floor with a view of the bay - binoculars provided were a very nice touch. Room was spotless and very well provided with reading material. The breakfast was delicious - they grow their own fruit and veg and keep hens, so most of it was completely home-grown.

Definitely the best B&B I've ever stayed in - well worth a visit!

Room Tip: Some rooms have a sea view

Have recently spent a few nights at Atlantic Villa - actually extended our stay as it was so good ! Ideal base to tour Kerry - Jackie is the perfect host and the location is secluded but easily reached - no need for lunch after such a hearty breakfast - would highly recommend it to anyone !

This is our third visit to Atlantic Villa. It really is a place where you can get away from it all. Jackie, the owner, is an excellent source of knowledge for the local area. She gave us super suggestions for a day lazing around the local area. Breakfasts are sublime, with most of the produce coming from the garden behind the house. The only disappointing thing I can say is that.....it was far too short of a stay!!!!

Room Tip: There is a room with a great big bath in the actual room, wonderful!!! Ask the owner for some sigh...

We recently attended a wedding on Valentia Island and stayed for two nights with Jackie and her family in Atlantic Villa in Knightstown. We were so impressed by everything in Atlantic Villa from the bedding to the amazing breakfast. The beds has a very cosy matress topper on them. Breakfast included eggs from Jackie's own hens and lots of local produce. She is a wonderful cook. Jackie has the warmest of welcomes for her guests and she was always on hand to offer advice and information about touring the island. She was also very accommodating in making sure that we were provided with facilities to iron our outfits for the wedding. This is an example of what a B&B should be like.
