Had a very nice time there: superfriendly staff, clean spacious room, good location and appreciated the value for money too!

The lady who run the hotel was extremely nice: she helped us organizing our journey to the Skellig Islands, let me borrow her laptop and gave us a lot of good advices for our irish tour!

I wish I come back some day! :)

We found out on Sunday morning that we needed to be in Cahersiveen on Monday evening for a funeral of a member of family. My sister-in-law phone the hostel and booked two double en-suite rooms for us. Other members of the family were looking for a place to stay and I suggested that they try the hostel when they arrived in town. In the end 10 of us stayed in the Hostel. Thank you very much to Mary for arranging for us all to stay there and for giving us a discount as we were going to a funeral.

Our room was small but very clean. We stayed out in the cottage at the back of the hostel which was great, because we are both smokers, it meant we could have a cigarette in the garden in the morning. Towels were provided and you could ask for more. There was a very comfortable looking living room, we did not use this as we were out for most of the time.

The hostel provides a basic breakfast of cereals, bread, toast and jam and tea, coffee and orange juice. However, for people that like a more substantial breakfast, there is a garage across the road that sells breakfast rolls. For 4 euro 50 you can get a full Irish breakfast in a roll, which really sets you up for the day. The garage also does other hot and cold food which you can eat in the hostel.

Unfortunately we were there for a very sad reason but I would love to go back for happier reasons and would definitely stay at the Sive Hostel again. It is virtually the same as a B and B (if you have an en-suite) but at half the price!

Did a cycling trip around the Ring of Kerry and stopped off at Sive Hostel after a very wet and windy journey. The welcome from Mary was warm and friendly, genuine Irish hospitality. I was given a lovely room in the cottage at the rear, it was a 2 bedroom family unit, self contained but I had it all to myself for €25 for the night including a light breakfast. Sive has beautiful common areas, sitting room and kitchen and while there I befriended two other travellers and we had some session in the local pub. Overall a great experience and would have no hesitation staying here again.

I wasn't sure about where to go while I was in the area, but Mary had some great advice about where I should visit. She also helped my to plan transportation to the harbor in PortMagee, where the ferries to Skellig Michael depart. The bathroom on the top floor is a bit small, and the slanted ceiling in the top floor room that I had was very low (watch your head if you happen to get a room like that!), but the house was kept clean, and my bed was very comfortable. She allows travelers to stay in the double bed rooms without paying a two person occupancy, so the prices were very reasonable. Breakfast is the typical sort of continental ordeal that one might expect, but there is a fully functional kitchen if you want to cook your own hot breakfast. The best part is that you don't need to wash your dishes: there is an electric dish washer : )

Room Tip: If you're travelling solo, you might as well spend a bit extra for a private room.

The Seive Hostel is a lovely place to stay in Kerry. Mary, the hostess, is wonderful and a joy to be around. The sitting common room is very nice, with comfortable furniture and a warm fireplace. As for location, the bus station is right across the street, with buses going to and from many places in Kerry. My only complaint was that the house tended to be cold, but the duvets were thick and the fire on, so I wasn't fussed. Anyone visiting in the summer wouldn't have to worry.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Sive hostel. Had a warm welcome from Mary, the owner. She was very nice and gave us directions and advise us what to see. The room was in a beautiful little stone house, loved it very much. Very clean and comfortable. The bus station is across the hostel. Cahersiveen is a great little town with a lot too see. Ring forts, Ballycarberry Castle, Old Barracks. We went to the Beach. I would stay here again and again :)

The hostel was very cozy but a little tight on space. The location is unbeatable if you like smaller towns with rural attractions. The ballycarberry castle and two forts are great visits and the ring of Kerry runs right through the area. Pretty reasonably priced and very friendly service.
