While not at the top of ones list to visit no trip around the Ring of Kerry should be without. Ii gives a very good perspective of Ireland of old. My wife's Mother and Father were both from Ireland and it helped her seeing how they lived many years ago. Worth the visit.

The kerry bog village is a wonderful experience. Only 5 euros to get in and you get a discount for a world famous Irish coffee. You have to go here, you will love it!!

We drove the Ring of Kerry in a clockwise direction, so as to avoid getting behind tour busses. This meant that the Kerry Bog Museum was our last major stop. We were the ONLY people looking at the exhibits. It was nice having the place to ourselves, but the gift shop was not even open, so €5 did seem slightly overpriced. Our family of 4 enjoyed reading about the exhibits in the informational booklets, and seeing what life was like such a long time ago. Our favorite animal was the goat who took a bite out of Mom's sweater!

When you enter the gate, leave today behind and step into the Ireland of past times in all its frugality and simplicity. A life on the edge for so many, of hard toil and often hunger, yet with dignity and humour.

See the number of beds and that families were huge. Maybe 14 living in one of the cottages and with no plumbing or power.

The skills represented in the cottages were life skills not hobbies. All that they had. And still the creativity in the stitching and wasting nothing.

A time gone by yet to be honoured and remembered with affection and respect.

Which this place does with great verve and authenticity. For those with eyes of the soul, and a love of Ireland.

So much to see and so much to learn and relearn,

A place I will revisit often as Kerry is now my home.

Our tour stopped at the village. I thought the venue was not authentic, and was small. There was not enough to see to justify the price or the time. Quite frankly, my tour guide was excited enough going to the village, that after seeing it, I wonder if he was getting a "kick back" for bringing us there. Overall, disappointing.
