I visited this restaurant last Saturday night with three other people. The restaurant is an old church with high ceilings and stained glass windows. Its a stunning setting. Great food with large portions and an excellent variety on the menu. Staff were very attentive and very friendly. I would highly recommend it and when I go to Killorglin again I will definately be returning!!

I recently had lunch is this beautiful Spanish restaurant in Killorglin. Located off the main street in an old church which has been transformed in to a restaurant. There is a good vibe the second you enter the building, we were presented with menus that consisted of several classical Spanish dishes accompanied with a large select of Spanish wines. One of the many great highlights at Sol y Sombra is their Spanish speaking staff. Looking forward to dinning at night as Sol y Sombra looked like a venue that you would expect flamenco dancing or a Spanish guitarist in the corner.

Drove from Cork to try this out on Sunday for lunch. It was worth the drive. The setting is great, a wonderful job has been done to restore the old church. The food selection was excellent - lots of choice and great value. We began with a shared board of Jamon, Chorizo, lomo, salami and manchego cheese with membrillo(a paste made with quince) served with wonderful fresh bread. We then had a shared dish of calamari - again a very generous portion for under €9. We then had our starters which were excellent followed by main of paella and roast suckling pig - both were very good and again a generous serving. The wine list is amazing with some wonderful Spanish wines - we had a bottle of Basa and a bottle of Gran Elias Mora it was such a treat to taste a wine of such quality and at such a good price - delighted to have the opportunity to enjoy that particular jewel of a wine. The staff are Spanish from Madrid and I gather from Bilbao (a city with a great food tradition) and Cadiz so it is a truly authentic bit of Spain in Kilorglin. It was a joy to enjoy the food and wine in such a wonderful setting. Gracias.

On our two weeks round trip trough Ireland we ended at the Sol y Sombra Restaurant and it turned to be one of the best meals we had. The staff is friendly and they told me that the Chef, is a basque from spain... this is always a very, very good thing when you talk about cooking.
The church used as a restaurant is surprisingly, nice.

Worths some miles drive to enjoy an excellent meal.

This restaurant is in a converted church and they have made a great job of the conversion. The food is excellent. There is a wide choice of tapas and also some full main course dishes. We visited as group of four and had both tapas and main courses and all were superb. Service was great as well.
