Had great break with my family in this truly lovely family run Hotel. Everything was perfect except for their booking policy. If there is any danger you may have to cancel your booking then I suggest you book through Booking.com as you get refund of deposit if you cancel up to 2 days in advance, not so if you book direct with Hotel, they will not refund deposit even if they manage to let room to someone else. (They offer to hold deposit for 6 months if you come to hotel, not great solution) otherwise do go & visit and meet Gilbert the Parrot, enjoy complimentary afternoon tea & champagne reception, you never know they might change their booking policy.

We were booked at Abbeyglen for 2 nights. There was a bit of confusion with our reservation but they quickly clarified it and upgraded us to compensate for the error. We had a lovely room. The breakfast has a lot of good variety. The dinner was delicious. The stay includes breakfast and afternoon tea. The hotel is well located and just a short walk to the center of town. It is more of a HOTEL than a castle but the staff work hard to make it a warm, happy and an engaging environment. When in Ireland it is important that you can walk home from the pub. You can not go to Ireland without experiencing the pub culture especially the music. It is wonderful.

Abbeyglen was a stuffy place to stay for the price. Uninspired breakfast. Loud room (#10) near the bar. Weird bathroom. Untrained front desk staff. We checked out early. The least interesting place we stayed in Ireland.

On a small tour and stopped at the hotel for the night. The dinner was excellent. and the staff was right on top of their game with the service. Roger was our waiter and he was very helpful.

Greeted by friendly staff and asked where we were from. Then 4 flags(one for each of us) became our centerpiece to let all know where you were from. Nice to look around and see all the different flags. The food was excellent. I had a steak done to perfection. Mr. Hughes stopped by to see if all was well. It was! It was our evening to treat ourselves to a wonderful meal in a Castle. A little pricey but well worth every Euro!
