We didn't really know what to expect when we went looking for this castle. We had heard about it, but we didn't know it was literally just an abandoned castle sitting in the middle of someone's land. We were able to see it from afar at a stop on the side of the road, but that wasn't enough for us--we wanted to GO and explore it! So, we guessed our way down there in our small rental and went down some winding roads. We stopped and asked a sweet elderly lady how to get there, and she said that although the path leading to it had been boarded up for some time, people still hop over anyway. We finally reached the shore by the water with some parking. We parked and spotted a path that was on the cliff of the waters and started hiking. There are quite a few boarded up barriers, but they're not difficult to hop if you're able. As you walk you see a lot of cows, but when you finally get to the hills by which the castle is situated, it makes you feel like you've truly discovered something magical. The field leading up to the castle is vast and since there is not much around, you sort of feel like you've been tossed back in time, and with the sea in the background, it is truly a sight to see. Be careful, though--there are signs warning of bulls, and it can be quite muddy. I would definitely recommend exploring this area to the adventurous at heart!
