“A memorable stay”

A wonderful B&B with a historical touch and very welcoming owners. I especially enjoyed the pancakes I got for breakfast, delicious with fresh fruit. Everything is served with care and in the right order. We slept in a fine twin bedroom with very big beds for both of us.

What a lovely stay in Clifden at Ben View House. It was everything a B and B should be and more.
Comfortable, welcoming, helpful , charming and both (Carmel) Eileen and Desmond have a lovely sense of timing and attention to detail that makes you feel totally relaxed and cared for as a guest. And those pancakes, which are but one of the breakfast options were really just gorgeous.

Room Tip: We travelled as a couple of friends and had a lovely double room with two ample double beds

We stayed for three nights at Ben View House and were very satisfied! Our room had an old fashion interieur but was clean, not too small but very charming. Eileen and Desmont are very kind and interessted in their guests. The breakfast was great. You can choose between full irish breakfast or pancakes. Both was fresh and tasty. The breakfast room was lovely furnished with antiques.
We'd surely come back! :)

Really sweet spot with wonderful rooms and great location. We were in town one just one night, and this was a fine central spot for our walking and strolling through the village. The host accommodated a special requests with cheer. Slightly formal in feel, but totally comfortable.

Arriving late after getting 'lost in Connemarra' my partner and our two and a half year old son and I tried to bag a last minute room at Foyle's Hotel in Clifden but they were full. The concierge recommended Ben View House so we walked the few hundred yards down the street in hope. When we arrived Eileen the proprietor said she only had a double room available but was happy for us to take it when told he we had a travel bed for our son. Although it wasn't a family room it was spacious with ample room for all three of us to be accommodated comfortably. We were considering only spending one night at Ben View House but after experiencing the kind and hospitable nature of its owner (and her excellent breakfasts) we opted to stay a further night.

I had booked a double for single occupancy for two nights. What I got was a very small room. It was almost completely full with the bed which had only a width of 130 cm. I really had some problems to put my suitcase somewhere! When I was leaving I asked the owner if she really gives that room to couples. She said: “No, that’s our single room.” But I had booked a double room…

There wasn’t a real door to the narrow bathroom, only something alike cabinet doors. In the bathroom there wasn’t any shelf and a toilet brush was missing as well. The light above the mirror didn’t work. The shower head was a fixed one.

The bed sheet was too small for the blanket, so that it wasn’t very hygienic. Although there was a phone in the room, I couldn’t receive a phone call from my family in the evening, because they got only the answering machine.

The rest of the house and the breakfast were alright, so that I suppose, that you have a more pleasant stay if you get a real double or twin. But this single room I cannot recommend at all!
