We stayed for 3 nights in early August.
Found our room very clean and comfortable, the only negative was the lack of power in the shower, though to be fair we didn't complain so could well be resolved by now.
The furniture in the room was a little old fashioned, but in good condition and suiting the age of the hotel.
Breakfast was very nice, with the staff friendly and attentive. The bar was ok, good enough for a late drink, but there are many better bars within a short distance. Didn't try the restaurant.
Foyles is very centrally located, handy for bars, restaurants and shops. Parking is in the street, with a 1 euro per hour charge between 11.00 and 18.00, which we didn't find excessive, as we were out and about in Connemara during the day anyhow.
Overall I wouldn't hesitate using this hotel again, even though, with the poor exchange rate, it wasn't exactly cheap.

well i have to say i dont think we would give this hotel top rating...we were two floors up and no lift..not an ideal situation for elderly or disabled people..but we managed..

our room was large and nice ..but a lot of building going on meant drills going outside until nearly 10 at night non stop..no way to relax before going out .

the cold water in our room was off, but we were given the key to use the bathroom in another room..come to think of it , it would have been easier if they.d moved us in the other room instead of having to cross the landing when cold water was needed!

other than that..the hotel is centrally situated though parking is on street if you can get a space...and pay from 11.3o am until 6.30 by the hour.

we have stayed in other foyles hotels..and this is not one of the best.

Not the worst two day stay we've ever had, but by no means the best either. Our room was decently sized and adequate in most respects , but the furniture had seen better days- lots of them -and its possibly the first time in my life I've stayed in a hotel room where the door had come off the wardrobe and no-one had bothered to put it back on. Several of the staff did not have a very good command of English, though those that did were helpful enough. The food was adequate though had we been paying for the food directly (we had a BBD package) I might have thought that the prices were a little higher than the cooking justifies. Overall though, value was fair in a country that is typically a very expensive destination. For the night we hadn't booked dinner, we chose to eat elsewhere (which was no better).

If we stayed in or near Clifden again, we'd probably give another hotel a try rather than return automatically to Foyles

I definitely recommend visiting Clifden. The Foyles Hotel was a little dated but an amazing place to stay, right on the main strip of Clifden. I definitely recommend getting a street view. Malarky's bar was great and the bartender Ian made us feel right at home. I could spend an entire week in Clifden and have a great time. Be sure to hit Guys pub, for lunch, nightlife, all of the above.
