Stayed there for one night last weekend - turned up at the door and we got one of the last rooms. Great service from everyone including the receptionist, the barman and the breakfast staff. Rate very reasonable too and the place is clean and well run and has loads of character. Add to that its location in downtown Clifden and what more can you look for? I suppose an off street car park would be good but apart form this I really recommend the hotel and look forward to staying there again.

Room Tip: Full of character in down town Clifden.

This is a real gem!!!! An old hotel but modernly updated. We stayed in one of the front rooms with a bay window. The staff is so friendly and helpful!! Clifden is such a charming town and centered perfectly for touring Connemara. Parking is free until 11am and again after 6pm. There is a free parking lot just up the street for the daytime. The restaurant food was excellent. We felt like we were staying in an 'old west' hotel. Just lovely and awesome value!!!

Room Tip: Front rooms with bay windows

I have stayed in this hotel a few times & on my last visit I promised to bring my family here.
On this occasion August Bank Holiday, I was accompanied by my wife, son, his wife & 2 young children & their best friends & their young children.
We had a wonderful time.We were made most welcome by all the staff here.
We eat in the hotel on one evening & in Mitchell's restaurant on another night. Both meals were exceptionally good.Breakfasts were very good also.
Rooms were clean & beds were very comfortable.
The only disappointing thing about the weekend was the lack of good quality bands. It appeared that the good bands that frequently play in Clifden were offered more money to play elsewhere on the bank holiday weekend.
Deep sea angling trip with John Britain, was as usual most enjoyable.
We will be back.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the courtyard at rear of hotel are best. They have some very sizeable family roo...

We stayed at this hotel in late August, 2012. It is located centrally in the town of Clifden, Connemara. We arrived earl morning before our room was ready, however we were able to leave our luggage with reception so we could get on with our touring. The hotel itself is older but it is very comfortable; the staff is extremely accommodating. We had a room facing the Main Street which was bright, clean and met our needs. The full Irish breakfast, which was included in the room price, was unbelievably good (even the " black pudding" which I usually hate). I would certainly stay there again. Overall, great value for money.

There is only one bad thing I can say about the hotel. It is located next door to a jewellery shop which my wife immediately visited.

I am loath to mention the dated decor and the shabby worn furniture in the reception area along with the fact that the bar didn't open until after 6 o'clock the one euro per hour on street parking Mon - Fri until 6 because we have had one of the best meals we have enjoyed for quite some time. I have never tasted more succulently rare lamb cutlets in my life - Cromleach Lodge comes close but it is still second to here. this meal is worth suffering all of the above for - it is that good. All three courses were excellent as was the service. Breakfast was also very good with the tastiest white pudding I have ever eaten (apparently it is made by a local butcher) Would we stay here again - wife says no, I say aye - would we eat here again - most definitely. If you like rare lamb you have to try this dish as it is sumptuous. The rooms were clean, spacious and warm. Dont forget to book the restaurant as it is very busy. Enjoy

Room Tip: The lighting is very dim for reading in bed.

I stayed here last weekend and the staff could not have been more helpful the hotel was full and staff kept going all weekend. It is perfectly placed in the centre of town and walking distance to everywhere. The breakfast was first class and Dinner excellent, even though a little dated the rooms were clean and well kept, I will certaintly return.
