We have just returned from our sixth or seventh stay with MIcheal and Kathleen and yet again it was brilliant , the rooms newly decorated from our last stay were gorgeous the beds so comfy and warm the sheets were lovely and crisp and fresh every bit as good if not better than some very expensive hotels that can be over-rated.
The breakfast was exceptional just cooked to order, we were staying for three nights so we managed to taste most things on the menu all delicious .
Kathleen recommended several local places for meals they were all super , they do things so well in Cliften it's so worth visiting .
If you are in the area stay with MIcheal and Kathleen you will not only have a great nights sleep a super breakfast you will get loads of local knowledge and if you are really lucky you will get to see their beautiful ponies , delightful dog Ruby and super friendly cat Sparky . Well done to you both it does not get better than this .THANKS

Our review is WAY overdue. We took our trip in Feb 2009... 3 years ago and I've been carting the Faul House business card around ever since dreaming of when we could return. Staying at this B&B was unmatched, as none of the other 5 we visited throughout Ireland were close to how lovely the hosts (Michael & Kathleen), property, rooms, and service were. We arrived later in the day without reservations and unannounced; we were recommended the Faul House by another local B&B owner who had no more rooms available. Our arrival didn't fluster Kathleen at all as she showed us to a large, clean, airy, and light-filled master bedroom then went to prepare us some tea and breads to warm up and relax after traveling. Each morning Kathleen served us a wonderful breakfast, chatted, and made recommendations about where to go. We were never disappointed with her suggestions. Michael talked to us about his ponies, the farm, and his mother's house just down the way from his own property. They both welcomed us to go explore their property and get a feel for the land. The walk takes you to the water's edge, the ponies trot up to welcome you, and you feel the enchantment in the land. We HIGHLY recommend you stay here... we'll definitely be returning.

This place is incredible! Kathleen and Michael are just made do this for a living. Michael has the most terrific laugh, and it’s something he likes to do. Kathleen, so warm and welcoming, and a terrific cook as well. We wanted to drive to Ballynahinch Castle for dinner and Michael had told us to take the “bog road” and loved his wonderfully enthusiastic and colorful narration of the drive and that there would promise to be “sheep all over the road” and needless to say he was absolutely right. Sheep all over the road & a terrifically gorgeous drive! I had booked the room well in advance and had been in correspondence through email with Kathleen and upon arrival, she had reserved the most spectacular room for us! As I stated before, Kathleen was just made to be in the B&B business. The breakfast was world class. Kathleen can really cook! Their house is absolutely gorgeous, on a lovely street, amazing views in every which way, and were rewarded with a walk down to the road’s end and saw a truly gorgeous sunset! If I’m ever back in Ireland, definitely, absolutely, positively - I will be staying here. It may be the best B&B I’ve ever stayed at. Truly terrific people, incredibly friendly, wonderful house, terrific setting, awesome rooms, food was out of this world too. I wish I could go there again tomorrow! Yes, it’s that good!

We had a lovely few days with Kathleen this month. Very friendly and welcoming, a large comfortable room and delicious breakfasts. Stunning setting within walking distance of the sea and a do-able walk to Clifden (but better to have the car!). I would recommend and certainly would come again.

I stayed at the Faul House in Sept 2010 with my parents. My parents had a very large double room and I had a room with 2 single beds (also very large). Both had en suite bathrooms. Both rooms were very comfortable and roomy. The furniture was a little dated but still clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were excellent and the owners were very nice, friendly and attentive.
The Faul House is a bit of a drive from the town center of Clifden, so if you want to be able to walk to town it may not be the best option. But the tradeoff is that you are in a beautiful location, with old farm buildings all around, lovely views and only a short walk down the (beautiful) lane to the water's edge, which is also breathtaking. It is quiet and peaceful and is really only a few minutes by car to the town center.
It is not a fancy five star resort, but it is a very nice, comfortable, clean B&B run by a very nice family. We really enjoyed our two nights there and I would go back again!

This lovely extended horse raising farmhouse just outside Clifden featured a very large second floor room with three beds, a great view of the hills surrounding the town, a mini fridge in the room, and a breakfast with vegetarian choices for our one night stay in July 2011. The family including husband Michael and three of the children drew together to provide yeomen service as irreplaceable one-woman-show hostess Kathleen had unfortunately broken a bone in her foot in the week before we arrived. The winding hillside road to this working farmhouse/B&B was twisty and afforded great local views.
