The Sky Road leaves the Village of Clifden, Ireland and heads up into the adjoining hills winding around the ridge overlooking the Atlantic Coast and several small communities and residences.
It is a beautiful, if narrow, roadway which gives a visitor a better understanding of just how the
local geography shaped the lives of generations of Irish farmers and fishermen in the area.
The road carries mostly auto traffic but it is perfect for both biking and walking. The road faces mostly a southerly direction making it good for early photography early and late in the day.
There are a few ancient castles along the way if you stop and look in the right places but they
are all on private property and not easily accessible to tourists.
