The location of Ardmore House is great - on Sky Road with a nice view. Right behind the house there is a private path to the cliffs, which is perfect for short walks to see the sunset. The owners are friendly but unobtrusive. The living room is comfy and there's a lot of info material (brochures, maps etc.). Our room was very spacious and even had two armchairs and a small table. The bathroom was ok, too, but it had no window and therefore a bit damp. There's free wireless LAN access, a shared fridge and you can take plates, glasses etc any time. It's about 5km from Clifden and Sky Road is, to put it positively, the perfect training for driving on Ireland's coast roads. It's partly very narrow but everyone drives slowly there, so it was no problem - and the view is great!

Ardmore House looks, although 30 years old, quite new. The inside is neet and tidy, rooms quite large and comfortable. For a B&B it is lead very professionaly, the atmosphere is more like a hotel, but prices are better. Continentals, who might have a problem with "normal" Irish houses will feel at home. Half the rooms are at ground level, so wheelchairs should not be a problem.

Our first stay at an Irish B & B and we were pleasantly surprised at the very high standard of accomodation. Kathy Mullen was a gracious host, their facility was spotlessly clean and both the bedroom and bathroom were large and modern - you could not ask for better.
The private walk to the coastal bluffs was outstanding.
The only concern we had, as visitors from Canada and inexperienced drivers on the left side of the roadway, was the long and very narrow Sky Road - the successful navigation was always welcome, whether it was arrival at Clifden or Ardmore house

We first ‘discovered’ Ardmore House during a whistle stop tour of the West Coast of Ireland a few years ago. On that occasion we only stayed for a couple of nights, but for months after our visit my thoughts kept drifting back to the that delightful spot out on the lower Sky Road, just west of the beautiful town of Clifden, in Connemara. It wasn’t long before the magic of that enchanted place drew us back, again …..and again.

If you’re the kind of person who’d enjoy eating a superb breakfast to the accompaniment of a cuckoo calling in the field outside the window; or being serenaded by a skylark as you took an evening stroll to a cliff-side walk to view the sunset over Clifden Bay, then Ardmore House is the place for you.

The accommodation at Ardmore House is of a high standard, spotlessly clean and is far better that many hotels that I’ve stayed in. The hosts, John and Kathy Mullen are genuine, friendly people. They are very knowledgeable about the tourist attractions in the Connemara area and they make an effort make you feel a welcome, valued guest in their beautiful home.

If you’re planning to stay at Ardmore House, be sure to pick a time when I’m not there. It’s not that I’m greedy, but I want it all to myself ! Ardmore is that kind of place.

We got to Ardmore House after an eventful voyage very late at night. In the morning we had a pleasant surprise as we woke up in a B&B that was just what had wished for: clean, tidy and nicely decorated, and in a idyllic location on the western edge of Europe. The private walk to the cliffs is great and we were also blessed with great weather. It is definitely a B&B we recommend for a peaceful or a romantic escape. We also thank the owners who had offered to refund the deposit when we had informed them that we might have not made it - and we were lucky that we did!

I have stayed here with small groups on several occasions and love the location from a photography point of view.

The rooms are spacious, breakfasts are generous, and the hosts as helpful and friendly as can be.

From a business perspective wi-fi is essential and they score on that too.

The only miniscule drawback, at the time anyway, was not taking credit cards. However, we got round that by paying online via PayPal. Oh what a great age we live in!

Oh, did I mention the Dolphins playing just offshore one morning?!

We stayed unfortunately only one night at Ardmore House as part of a package trip. It is one of our two best B&B experience (the other being Coill An Rois in Dingle).
Very nice rooms, very nice hospitality, very nice breakfast. Perfect place to visit Connemara although a bit far after a nice dinner downtown.
