Our group of 2 couples stayed here two nights and really could have stayed much longer as this area has SO much to offer - from castles to an Abbey, to hiking, to a beautiful rugged coast with very exciting drives along the way, and the town of Clifden with its gorgeous harbour and extreme high/low tides. The Quay House's owners are top drawer and extremely experienced - one can rely on them and their advice for anything in this region. Very attractive premises, rooms, parlour rooms, and dining area. The breakfasts are super and their servers and wait staff are first class and caring. Situated directly on the harbour, one can easily walk into Clifden for shopping, pubs and restaurants. Very higly recommend this as your destination stop when in this area.

The water in the bay, that is... This is a very unique place. The original structure is the oldest in town! The owners have since added on. But, if you stay in the original portion you may get an unexpected surprise!

Each room is unique, the water views really nice. Paddy and Julie are great, and very helpful both when in town and for wherever you are going next within the country.

Room Tip: Get one with a view of the Bay. Warning... it is an active area with boats coming and going.

Of the six places we stayed at during a tour around southern Ireland this was by far the best. Quirky and interesting decor with a luxurious touch and an interior designer's flair, Paddy and Julie run a relaxed and delightful small hotel.

The location, a few minutes walk from the centre of Clifton, was quiet and attractive. Our room was a 'studio' with a tiny kitchenette, a good sized bathroom with shower and bath and a large, well furnished bedroom/lounge with plenty of space to sprawl about and relax.

There are several guest lounges, beautifully decorated and very welcoming. If the weather keeps you indoors there are piles of wonderful books to page through

The hotel doesn't offer evening meals but Paddy was really helpful making recommendations for a variety of restaurants in the village. From the swish to the simple there is plenty of choice and a few very nice pubs too.... some with traditional live music.

Breakfasts were excellent; imaginative, well prepared and served in a lovely setting. I have to compliment the staff too, very hands on and helpful.

Paddy and Julia set a great example by personally overseeing everything that goes on and treat their guests like friends. This was more like 'coming home' than staying in a hotel. Such a warm and inviting place we were sorry to leave.

We stayed as part of a holiday to the West of Ireland and it was the best accomodation we stayed in. We arrived early and were given a choice of three rooms, all equally interesting and comfortable. The one we chose had a four poster bed, sitting area, small kitchenette and large bathroom. The hosts Paddy and Julia were relaxed ,friendly and helpful and we found the whole experience different as well as enjoyable. The Quay house is positioned right on the quayside and we could watch from the balcony of our room the fishermen unloading their catch in the evening. Its a short walk into Clifden where there are many good restaurants and pubs and we did use the ones recommended by our hosts .The house is full of interesting objects, books and paintings collected over the years. Breakfast was taken in the vine covered conservatory , the choice was good and the food delicious. We are looking forward to returning here next year.

Room Tip: The rooms are all different specify if you want modern etc Balcony rooms overlooking the quay are lo...

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights at the end of September for our wedding anniversary. At the time of booking Paddy told us he would keep a "romantic" room for the occasion and he was certainly good to his word. A four poster bed with floor to ceiling double doors that opened out to a view over the picturesque harbour. Absolutely beautiful. With just a short stroll to the town square and all the pubs and restaurants we had the best of both worlds - peace and tranquility and easy access to the jovial atmosphere the town pubs offer. The breakfast was also delicious.

This was the best of the many, many B&B's we've stayed enjoyed in over 15 years of travel in Europe, and North and South America. Our stay here was by far the high point of our two weeks in Ireland. We stayed three nights and wish we could have stayed 2-3 more just to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the relaxing hospitality of Paddy and Julia. They have created an elegant, fun, and extremely comfortable home away from home. The spacious rooms were very welcome after a cramped stay in Galway. The Quay House collections of period pieces add interest and occasional humor in every nook and cranny--all artfully arranged. The Beach Road, just outside the Quay House, provides a lovely walk with scenic views of the harbor. The fabled Sky Road starts just up the way for an unforgettable drive. The town of Clifden is delightful, with good restaurants, lovely shops and galleries. The September Clifden Arts Festival was a special treat, with outstanding musical events every evening. This place is reason enough to return to Ireland for a more leisurely visit.

Room Tip: The Safari Room is a especially grand and comfy, with large bathroom, kitchenette, and wonderful har...
