Charming, clean and extremely comfortable, a lovely welcome and wonderful breakfast, although I think a little music in the breakfast room would go down well as it has a bit of an echo! The bedroom was charming and full of anitiques, although the bathroom could do with a bit of an update. Just a short walk in to the pretty town of Clifden where there are lots of pubs and restaurants, it can be a bit touristy though so hunt out the pubs with the real locals!

We decided to move on from a not nice b&b and happened upon a gem. We arrived in Clifden to the Quay House where we couldn't have been more warmly welcomed by Paddy and Julia. In a few minutes we knew we were going to be happy, and well looked after. We weren't disappointed! The rooms were large and beautifully furnished. The bathrooms were big, well kitted out and warm. The restaurant suggestion for dinner perfect. We Had a lovely time in the lounge and felt like home. Then we slept like babies and enjoyed a fantastic breakfast! There were even fresh oysters! After breakfast, Paddy helped us plan our route and his advise was spot on. We only wished we could have spent more time there. Go and you won't be disappointed with the Quay Hpuse.

All is right with the world when staying at Quay HouseFrom the moment we met hosts Paddy and Julia they made us feel at home and at ease. Quay House has all the polish of a top flight inn combined with a sense of warmth and relaxation that fits perfectly in the charming seaside town of Clifden. which by the way is a perfect base for exploring the Connemara. The hotel location is ideal - right on the water and a 3 minute walk into town. One more highlight, breakfast is wonderful - sublime, fresh oysters.

Absolutely delightful! We were traveling around the west coast and hadn't pre-planned our accommodation, we stopped at the Quay House hoping they had an open room and we were in luck! We were greeted by the charming owner Paddy who graciously helped us with our bags and showed us our lovely room. The next morning, Paddy's lovely wife Julia introduced herself over a wonderful breakfast and was incrediby helpful in assisting us plan the rest of our trip. On a side note, the breakfast was unbelievable - it was fresh and it was clear that much thought and consideration went into the menu. Above and beyond the standard Irish breakfast, delicious!

This is among the finest B&Bs I've visited. The food was superb and the rooms were lovely and spacious. The whole building is fitted out in tasteful antique furnishings which were also comfortable. Village was in walking distance, which was great because we didn't have a car. The proprieters connected us with a local driver to tour Connemara and Kylemore Abbey (a must do!) Breakfast was a feast with ingredients that were obviously fresh and vibrant: mixed berries, fresh squeezed juice, creamy yogurt, cereals plus we had our choice of hot breakfast (we all had the eggs benedict; I ordered mine on brown bread--superb!) Paddy and Julia were warm and welcoming and took great care of us. We had tea by the fire both afternoons we were there. On our last morning, we had to leave before 5am so Julia packed us a delicious bag of food to take with us. Once at Shannon airport we were delighted to open our goodies: ham sandwiches on brown bread with some sort of tasty relish, hard boiled eggs, apples, bananas and lemon cake. What a hospitable send-off. Highly recommended!

More room (14), wider than usual, with more astonishing furniture than in any b and b I have ever been to. Is the quay house just a superlative b and b ? No, it also has the soul of a family-run business with a sense of warmth relationships and professionalism. Julia, Paddy, their children, their polish aides and their two marvelous dogs will make you feel unique and lucky. One of the best b and b breakfast I have ever tasted. 4 stars.

We were so fortunate to find a room here on a Saturday night. We spent all day touring Crough Patrick, Kylemoore Abbey, and the beautiful road through Conemarra. It was a magnificent day, the best of our trip. Our tour was rather freestyle, as we made no B & B reservations our entire 10 days, relying on the locals to point us in a direction to stay, knowing there are so many B & B's, one will always get a bed. We got so much more at the Quay House. Our room was strangely appointed, which all the reviews show, but it also had a huge bath and shower, and a kitchenette. Julia was away on personal business, but Paddy was the finest host. He directed us to great food, music, church services, and reminded us he had a breakfast planned for the next morning. I had cedar smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. A beautiful plate came out, and it was delicious. Brenda enjoyed the eggs benedict, so much, she only afforded me one bite.
It is quite dear for us to come clear from Washington State USA, but we are already planning a second trip to the Emerald Isle, with The Quay House as a definite point of return.

Room Tip: Paddy knows everyone in this town and elsewhere. He is an open and willing resource for food, music...
