“The Quay House ..... You Betcha!”

Wow - this place is great. I don't know where to begin - the house (accommodations) or the hosts (Paddy and Julia). Both are spectacular.

We spent 2 nights here in April and I would return in a heartbeat. The house itself is a perfect blend of luxury and comfort. Just the place to lay your weary bones and frazzled nerves after a long road trip or a short drive on the Sky Road. We stayed in the Napoleon Room, it was wonderful. The room has a queen size bed, large sitting area, great view of the bay and a well sized bathroom, with separate dressing area.

Breakfast is a feast. One morning my husband had fresh mackerel – just off the fishing boat. The public rooms are warm, comfortable and furnished with very interesting objects. You need to walk around a few times to appreciate all the details and uniqueness of the furnishings.

Paddy and Julia however are the icing on the cake. They are the epitome of what one would imagine an Irish host/hostess to be. Paddy has a HUGE personality, very entertaining. Julia is elegant, charming and gracious.

To sum up … The Quay House …………Priceless!!!

Quay House is the perfect blend of luxury accommodations and warm hospitality. We stumbled upon Clifden and Quay House while exploring the west coast. Immediately upon arriving Paddy engaged us in his irresistable way and swept us through the house pointing out the eclectic mix of furnishings and making us feel at home. Our room overlooked the harbor and the boats and was huge and very nicely appointed. The short walk to town was perfect for a stroll and a pint at a pub or two and dinner. The fireplace and living room was cozy and such a nice place to sit and enjoy the surroundings. Breakfast is incomparable to anything we had in Ireland even at the most lavish digs. The beautiful breakfast room and unusual menu and homemade baked goods was a treat. One of the all time wonderful experiences you hope for on a trip. Frank and Lori, San Diego.

Room Tip: All the rooms we saw were beautiful with water views. If you have the right attitude you may like th...

Very enjoyable stay here for a couple of days in March this year. Beautiful house and the room was very spacious and comfortable with a balcony which was great. The patrons are very informative about the area and also very entertaining company. Breakfast was superb and would highly recommend.

Room Tip: Got the Napoleon room on the top floor which provides great views of the bay. The room itself is big...

I stayed here with my husband at the end of March for our 15th wedding anniversary. Initially I messed up the booking, but Julia was so helpful in correcting it. We exchanged a couple of emails in advance, where we sought recommendations for places to eat in Clifden and she even booked us a table for our first night, when we were arriving late.

On arrival, Paddy and Julia gave us a warm welcome and Paddy enthusiastically showed us the Napoleon room, where we spent two nights. The room was everything we could have wanted for a special weekend.

Breakfast each morning was unhurried, with a lovely choice of cereals, breads, fresh fruit, cheese, cold meat, yoghurts, juices and, of course, the cooked menu.

This is such a lovely place, we hope to be back again really soon.

Room Tip: I don't think there is a bad room. The Napoleon room has realy character, but don't stay the...

Spent best two days away in Ireland ever. Absolutely loved our stay in The Quay House. Paddy and Julia made us very welcome. Beautiful house, view from the room was incredible. It rained most of the weekend but this didn't at all dampen our enjoyment. If going to Clifden this is simply the best place to stay. The house is full of charm, a relaxation paradise and perfect for a romantic weekend away. The choice for breakfast exceeds any five star hotel menu. And its only a few minutes walk into Clifden that has some of the best seafood restaurants in Ireland. Looking forward to our next visit already.

We have stayed in lots of guest houses and many hotels throughout Ireland and I have to say this has to be one of the best places we have ever stayed. The house is so tastefully decorated, the service is fantastic and the owners couldn't have been nicer. They are genuinly nice which isnt forced! We would go especially to clifden to stay in the quay house again and we are very particular in where we stay. It is worth every penny and you won't be disappointed. I would be shocked if I heard a bad review on this place it really was a fantastic 2 night stay

As a long time visitor to Ireland (annually for decades), the Quay House in Clifden is by far the best of all accommodation I have ever stayed in and offers its guests the best rooms, breakfast, hosts, location and peaceful surrounding in all of Ireland. Julia and Paddy could not provide their guests with a warmer welcome and stay. Every room is unique and spacious. As Clifden becomes more popular and busier, the location of the Quay House down by the harbour provides for a beautiful, tranquille and exquisite setting for living life in the appropriate fashion - all for the best value in Ireland! You will not find a finer place in all of Ireland and you will return, time after time.

Room Tip: While all of the rooms are terrific, the top floor rooms have wonderful views of the harbour.
