This is an experience that everyone should enjoy with the untouched landscaping, and not trampled by humans. Michael was the driver, and did an incrediable job of describing the different ancient ruins, and stopped for lunch in a very lovely town. Being of Irish hertiage, this is an experience, that I will never forget, and cannot wait to return.

if you enjoy walking and want to experience something unique then you should try this! When we came back from this holiday we told everyone we know about it as we had really enjoyed every minute of it. We initially thought it was a bit expensive but having done it, we realised what good value it is. This walking tour takes in three islands off the west coast of Ireland and offers great scenery, great food and great company. It is suitable for even the most reluctant of walkers as you go at your own pace. All you need is a good pair of walking boots. The hosts, Gerry and Brian (from the Abbeyglen Castle Hotel - see separate review) are knowledgeable and passionate about the area they live in and tour, Gerry provides information about the history of the land and its people that you could not get from a guide book (or the Net). When the walking is over there is incredible food to be enjoyed, and of course a relaxing drink or two and some fine socialising, conversation and singing. This holiday is suitable for couples and single people alike. The hosts are good company and the atmosphere is so friendly as you meet up with people who are bowled over by the warmth and hospitality of the islanders, the stunning scenery and the good feeling that this holiday gives you. A real gem!

his bus tour was fun and informative. The route goes a different way than the other tour buses of the region and includes Cong, which is beautiful. Our driver Michael was funny and shared many interesting facts about Ireland and the region. It is a 71/2 hour tour, well worth the 25 euro cost.

This is a holiday for walkers - be prepared and don't attempt it if you are not fit and used to walking 10+ miles over mixed terrain. But the places you see on the walks are unforgettable - carry a good camera. Most of the break is spent on three islands off the Connemara coast. These are quite small and sparsely populated. Inevitably the accommodation is simple, but the food is very good indeed, and much centres in the evening on the bar/pub where one can while away a very pleasant hour or two. On two days there were gourmet picnic lunches with plenty of wine, and on two other days lunches were taken at a pub or guest-house restaurant. The first night is spent at the Abbeyglen Castle Hotel in Clifden - champagne reception, a briefing and dinner; four star. The guides were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Most groups are in the teens of people (our was 12; two couples and 8 singles, and everyone got on famously; one English, one Irish, five German, three Australian and two American). We were also fortunate in having stunningly good weather except for the last day when it was grey with a little rain; this is rather out of character for the area though.

Overall, this was a fair-priced break with a huge amount in its favour.

Went on the Connemara Safari Tour this summer and it was a great experience. Very friendly bunch of hill-walkers (from all over the world) and a very comprehensive and knowledgeable guide in Gerry McCloskey. But a word of warning - one or two in our party were not fit enough for the long walks and hikes - particularly on Inisturk, which is very hilly, and some of the accommodation left a lot to be desired - after a long and very wet walk, all you want is a nice hot bath/shower - in the 'hotel' in Inisboffin all we got was luke warm water in a low grade hotel. Having said that, the food was great, the stay at the Abbeyglen Castle hotel was fabulous, the views magnificent and the craic was mighty. But this is no holiday for the weak-legged! Many of the walks will take you over very rough terrain (hiking boots required, not runners) - you'd need to be well practised in hill-walking and be able to keep up with the fittest of them. The pace is not that fast but the walks are long. It is extremely inexpensive for such a wonderful tour - and you really do feel so much the better for having had such an indepth guide of a most beautiful part of Ireland. Be prepared for the rain though, it's guaranteed! Well worth it, but get fit first.
