Our group of five had two rooms at Abbeyglen and we all wanted to stay forever!!! The hotel is charming and welcoming...the minute we walked in, we were greet by the proprietor and offered a drink. We arrived early afternoon, so walked into Clifden while our rooms were being cleaned. We were served tea in the afternoon and champagne before dinner. The champagne hour was very engaging, with proprietor and staff encouraging people to chat and to return to the bar after dinner for a sing fest! Dinner was fantastic....with an assortment of menu items served with fresh vegetables. The room was exquisite, decorated in period decor for a castle, though very modern bath accommodations and comfortable beds. A full Irish breakfast was served the next morning and our wait staff made sure that he remember all of our favorite things. I would recommend Abbeyglen to anyone who wants to be treated like royal family members!!!

I've noticed mixed reviews of Abbeyglenn. My 5 star rating is based on the customer service I experienced. Admittedly the hotel is in need of some TLC, but the warm welcome and quirky charm of the hotel more than compensate. The location is very peaceful and beautiful and within easy walking distance to the center of Clifden. Our room was very large with a sitting room and a fireplace, the bed was very comfortable. The dinners served in the dining room were very well priced and delicious. The nightly sing alongs in the bar were great fun!

I had the pleasure of staying overnight at the Abbeyglen Castle Hotel on a recent stay in Ireland. The accommodations were booked through Railtours Ireland. It was by far the best hotel experience during the two week trip. The owner greeted us and immediately provided us with a free beverage upon our arrival. We enjoyed champagne that evening before dinner and were entertained by hotel staff. The food was absolutely fantastic. Our room was lovely with an incredible view. Everyone at the hotel made us feel very welcome. The grounds were lovely and I was only sad because we were only spending one night there. Definitely an awesome place to stay.

Room Tip: Room facing the front which gives great views.

My brother and young niece and I had the pleasure of celebrating a cousin's 40th birthday here a few weekends ago, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about this charming hotel and its equally charming proprietor, Brian Hughes, and his lovely wife Michelle. The setting is gorgeous, the food wonderful, the staff accommodating and friendly, and the ambiance is the perfect combination of fun and relaxing. I also cannot recommend highly enough the Relaxation Centre and spa and the talented and compassionate Linda who runs it. I already miss this home away from home and cannot wait to return.

Stayed here for 1 night last Sunday 16th June and was not disappointed.
Lovely welcome and room was great with a seperate sitting room large bathroom and fanastic bed. Almost like going back to 1970's no cards here to open bedroom door just good old fashion key. No big flat screen TV just little tv box in corner. But these are positives in this mad Tech world. But if you do miss that still have youur sky sports and wifi available.
Bar is cosy and very homely with grand piano in corner where you'll hear Barry or Brian (who knows everthing about area and very friendly) pump out the tunes get Brian to do the Conamara version of piano man if your in a group its brillant.
Breakfast great staff friendly. Would highly reccomend this hotels especially for couples or groups.

Room Tip: Get room facing the gardens

The highlight of our trip! Greeted with champagne upon arrival, upgraded to a room with fireplace, sitting area, full tester antique bed,
claw foot tub for two, heated towel racks and shower. Lively piano bar and interesting menu prompted us to break the vow of never dinning in a hotel restaurant. Not disappointed in that choice, lobster Thermidor was fresh and exquisitely prepared. Side dishes were beets, sweet potatoes, and pâté was excellent. Town was so much lovelier than Dublin or Galway. You will not be disappointed!

Now I've never stayed in a castle before, so this was amazing!
I stayed for only 2nights, and I loved it. There's a bird named Gilbert who welcomes you in, and talks to you of you sit on the lobby by the fire. The room is amazing, and everything is so luxurious and the big bed and that huge bath...how I miss it! The food is to die for. There's a free buffet breakfast every morning and a delicious dinner every night from 7pm. And whilst dining among fellow well off folk, you can look out over the gardens and beyond into Connemara. So I think it was anyways. Service is great, everyone of the staff are lovely. It was a great place to stay!
