Didn't really expect much from the hotel but it had a few flaws.

We went there with a group of 14 girls for a hen do weekend.
WE had dinner in the hotel restaurant. We dined from the set menu - the choice was obviously limited but I must admit the food was below average. There is so many nice little restaurant in the town I wouldn't even bother coming to this place to eat. I had some deep fried garlic mushrooms which were horrible, drenched in fat and not garlicy at all. Main course it was two slices of lamb cooked well done - the lamb was basically destroyed. Dessert - no comments. Breakfast was ok but nothing special.

The worst thing was the check out time. In any hotel it is 12pm but in this one it's 11.30am...plus we were not informed of that when checking in!
On the day of the check out a lady knocked at our at 11.20am, stormed in and informed us we have to check out in 10 minutes or pay extra 20 euros and stay until 2pm !!! Ridiculous! Never seen anything like this before!

Plus there was no shampoo or toothpaste in the hotel.

Maybe a cheap place but not great at all. Better off finding somehting else!

The plus points are that this hotel is right in the centre of Clifden, the bathroom and room are clean and the bed is comfortable with good bedding, friendly staff. Sadly the hotel has not moved with the times and is past its sell by date - there were plug in airfreshners which are not a good sign, the paint work is poorly done and looks like a bad diy job, the joinery work is atrocious and botched repair jobs just give the hotel a poor look as do all the bed room doors and the green headboards and side boards - outdated curtains and covers on the bed settees. With a little TLC and a visit from the Brennans this hotel could be improved dramatically. The quality of the breakfast was generally poor - low quality products were used and the buffet was a joke - cold toast, dreadful sausages and thin low grade bacon and horrible orange juice. We got a good rate so thankfully it did not cost a great deal - if you are looking for somewhere clean to put your head down then this hotel will suit you.

We recently spent a couple of days on the west coast of Ireland with some Australian friends, so we needed a place to stay.
The hotel were doing a good offer so we booked in there.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Hotel very clean, but a little dated. The rooms were a good size and comfortable but again needed to be brought up to date and sadly you did hear everyone walking past your door
The owner told me they were going to do up the rooms at the end of the season, so it might be better next year. The restaurant was good with a great seafood menu.
Overall I would recommend it so long as you are not looking for 5 star comfort but you need a decent hotel in the middle of Clifden & a place to put your head down

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the far end of the corridor so you don't hear people going to bed all night af...

From start to finish we were made to feel welcome, we were in the area for a wedding and alas only stayed one night, would loved to have stayed longer. The staff were so helpful and informative, the bars offered differing styles, a big bar for watching sporting events and a more intimate bar for quiet conversation. A band played the evening i was there, who were superb. I did not have dinner, though it was offered, breakfast was excellent! Rooms spotless and were ready ahead of time.

My friends and I spent a memorable 3 night break here, a little while ago. The central location of the hotel and the warmness of the staff more than made up for the fact that the bedrooms are a little tired in terms of decor. However the rooms are spotlessly clean and very comfortable and those at the back of the hotel are exceptionally quiet.
If you want to experience real Irish hospitality andtasty good quality food here's the place for you. And did I mention the exceptional value the hotel was??? QUICK, before everyone else hears about this wonderful place.....

Stayed here for three nights B&B plus evening meal all for 50 euros each per night!!! Excellent value. The staff were very good at their job and pleasant with it. Ciaran and his brother (name escapes me) who run it were very friendly and joined us for a drink one of the nights. The food was second to none and we shall definitely go back again. Situated perfectly right in the centre of Clifden, GO THERE!

Nice family run hotel in the centre of the town. The rooms are spacious. There are some activity breaks (walking, fishing, golf) organised from the hotel. The restaurant is excellent, very popular locally.
