Spent 2 nights at the hotel. A great location and food.Tiramusu desert, was served in a cup, great presentation and desert.
Declan, Sharon and Mike who are the owners, are very helpful and eager to help.
Loved Clifden. Some great local music and singing.
We would return to this hotel.

This was a friendly well run hotel right in the centre of town. It was great value as rates were very reasonable and food was excellent both in the bar and restaurant. There was good local entertainment in the bar most nights. Ideal, we'll definitely be back next time we are in Connemara.

I had a fantastic time staying at the charming Alcock and Brown Hotel. Its right in the middle of Clifden. The staff were extremely helpful, and the proprietor, Mick Byrne was very welcoming. We ate in the restaurant on the first night of our stay and we were blown away. I've been to restaurants all around the world, from Hawaii to Jersualem and I have to say that this was head and shoulders above the rest. The seafood chowder was unlike any other with all the ingredients being locally sourced. Normally I don't like to eat in the same place twice while on vacation but we couldn't resist going back the following night, and once again the food was to die for. After dinner we headed to the bar where there was traditional Irish music on both nights. Those sessions are something else!!

Visit started well with great welcome by the receptionist, and lovely lunch in the cafe... Highly recommended. Sadly let down by dated room, dirty shower curtain, and very uncomfortable bed. Other hotel guests extremely noisy from 2am-4am with no attempt by owners to quieten them down, topped off in the morning by no hot water in the shower. Would never return

For the price I really didn't expect much, and to be fair the room was ok, albeit tired and musty. However I do expect a level of control over noise levels during the night; we were woken again and again by drunk guests swearing and shouting between midnight and 3am. I also expect that having endured a night of little sleep there would be some hot water for a shower and shave in the morning, but apparently not. Might pass muster as a mediocre hostel, but not a hotel in any dictionary sense. Would not return.

Stayed at the hotel on a busy bank holiday weekend. What was most notable was the friendliness of the staff and the extra effort they put into making their guests welcome and comfortable. Great spot. Pleasant bar with traditional sessions in the evening. Memorably good coffee in the coffee shop
