Dunraven Arms Hotel
Ranked #3 of 3 Hotels in Adare
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed April 6, 2014

We chose Adare as a central location for a group travelling from different areas of Ireland. Adare, to me, is a tourist village with English style houses and expensive shops but we enjoyed a quick wander about and afternoon tea in the Manor itself.

I had eaten in the bar in the Dunraven before and the food continues to be consistently good.
We had asked for quiet rooms as there were wedding on both nights of our weekend stay. We didn't hear a sound from either function and our rooms overlooked a green area, rather than the main road. The rooms were warm, beds comfortable and had a dressing area with sink as well as a bathroom with a powerful shower over the bath.

Breakfast set us up each morning, you couldn't help but stuff yourself! (And we did.)
Our package had a dinner included and the set menu offered good choice for all of us. Service through out the hotel was friendly and efficient.

The Dunraven has been in business for many, many years and you can see why, genuine hospitality ,good food and comfortable rooms.

Room Tip: Look for rooms overlooking the green area towards the back of the hotel. Our group stayed in 92,93,9...

Stayed at this hotel as part of a group tour booking. Our room was well appointed, comfy beds, good wi-fi. The bar service is friendly and the buffet breakfast each day one of the best I have enjoyed. I'd happily stay here again.

We stayed at Dunraven on the recommendation if my sister who had been a few years prior. Did not have a good experience. Lukewarm reception upon arrival. Room was very smelly. Bathroom had very dirty caulking and scary fluorescent lighting. Minimal hospitality in the bar for drinks. Indifferent staff when we checked out. Won't be back.

Booked this last minute and got a great deal. It used to be an old haunt of mine when I travelled frequently around Ireland and was always a favourite.
The restaurant is still producing excellent menus, with exceptional service. Great choice on the menu and each course was as delicious as the next. Wine is not overpriced and the house wine was of good quality.
Probably because of the late booking we ended up in Room No. 6, in the old part of the hotel. Full of charm and character with a family room and fabulous four poster bed. However, there is room for improvement as the plumbing system seems to be as old as the hotel and rattled during the night, frequently waking myself and my travelling partner. The stink of smoke on the corridor was off-putting to say the least as another guest was obviously chain smoking. Internet in the room was awful, so if you're on a business trip - be careful, you were warned. Despite the reboot, it still didn't work sufficiently to be able to access emails.
Overall, still a good spot to stop off.

I really don't know where to start for this review: the wonderful starter, the amazing main course or the fabulous dessert ? We were told by friends that this hotel was THE place to go for Sunday Lunch and we can now see why. It's olde world charm, it's wonderfully attentive staff & it's amazing food all contributed to the best Sunday lunch I think we've had in many a year & without a doubt we'll be back. From the moment we arrived to the time we left (about three hours later) we were treated like royalty & nothing was too much trouble. I has a wonderful starter: a warm salad with bacon & poached egg whilst my wife had goats cheese arranchini which she described as heavenly. Our friends had urged us beforehand to order the roast beef for mains so we both took them at their word..........and were not disappointed. The beef arrived exactly as ordered: medium rare for me & medium for the boss with a feisty homemade horseradish sauce to add attitude to the plate. It was divine & more-ish.....so we had more !! We finished the meal with a lovely apple pie for her & a pear & almond tart for him - both of which really hit the spot. It's hard to put your finger on exactly what it is that makes this place stand out from all the rest. We've had great meals before, we've ate in more sumptuous surroundings & we've been cosseted by attentive staff before but the combination of all three makes this hotel special. If you get the opportunity, make sure to take a detour to Adare - you won't be disappointed !

My wife and I had not had a proper break for almost 10 months. We chose the Dunraven as we noticed it had been awarded Georgina Campbell Hotel of The Year 2014. From the moment we stepped in the door we could feel ourselves winding down. Dinner on the first evening in the restaurant was really excellent so we decided to also eat in the restaurant on our third and final night - the dinner was equally good. Very skillful cooking. The staff through the hotel are wonderful, helpful, genuine, smiling yet unobtrusive. They seemed to be able to 'read the guests'. Breakfast was a real feast with locally produced foods. We used the Health Club daily, again the staff could not be more helpful and even the many local users of the facilities seemed intent on making you feel welcome. The bedroom was very very spacious overlooking quiet gardens. Quite simply we will be back. On leaving we bought ourselves a Gift Voucher as an added incentive to return again soon.

Room Tip: We loved our room over-looking the gardens at the rear of the hotel.

I have had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful hotel odd nights over the past number of years and now a short family break .On each occasion you are met with a sense of warmth ,comfort and a friendliness of all staff. The rooms are warm and welcoming and spacious .The food is excellent and would alone get me back for this special treat . Housekeeping do a fabulous job and at one point I had left an item at hotel after a stay ,housekeeping had posted it to me within 2 days ....
