... but had a mediocre service in the dining room for both breakfast and dinner.

First the goods:
Our room was so amazing - it was huge and had lots of charm.
The food at the restaurant was very well made and the breakfast buffet had great selection

Now the not so goods:
Parking is free but can be quite the trek from the lot all the way to the front door and then back all the way to your room.
The service at the restaurant was so-so at best. For dinner we almost walked out because we sat for so long waiting for a server to come each time (to take drink orders, to take food orders, to get check). The morning was a bit better, but still not great, especially since they had to do so little.

This was one of many trips that we have made to Dunraven Arms and yet again it didn't disappoint.

Dunraven Arms is a favourite of ours. My parents often frequent the hotel. In 2011 we chose Dunraven Arms as our wedding venue and on this visit we were delighted to introduce our 3 mth old to the hotel! The staff in the hotel are always so professional yet very friendly, never false and always so accommodating. The owners of the hotel are no strangers and you often meet them at the door and even see them carving their signature beef dish at dinner. As well as being luxurious it is a clean, cosy and homely hotel and the rooms are beautiful and spacious. We will be back!!

Upgraded to a junior suite at no extra cost. Loved the history and old world charm. Welcoming staff, comfy room and great breakfast. Enjoyed a nice swim in the pool which opens at a decent early hour.
Thank you and can't wait to return. This hotel definitely has a personality.

We recently dined in this hotel for an important anniversary. We dine alot and we do not mind paying for quality. The starter were lumps of bacon gelled together with a few lumps of carrot wrapped in a leaf of cabbage! It was disgusting we excused that, Unfortunately when i got my main course my face dropped in horror. I got a plate over flowing with what looked like coloured red water, it had no taste and had one small beetroot with and an over cooked chicken fillet. A side plate with 2 scoops of mash and some greens were also given. As the waiter passed he asked me if I had spilled my red wine into my dinner, we laughed and politely complained that it was water and I had forgotten to bring a bathing togs! The desserts were very nice but I got a cold cup of coffee which was something like €3.50 or €3.90 a cup. The meal portions were very small, over priced and of poor standard. Our 3 course meal cost over €124.00. When I complained that my dinner was not all nice, We did not get any satisfaction and left very disappointed. However a bar manager gave us a drink on the house.

Room Tip: Don't dine here, it so so expensive and the food is terrible!

Of the 5 supposedly 4 star or better rated hotels that we stayed in during our 25th wedding anniversary tour of Ireland, this was the least desirable. This hotel is situated in the center of Adare, a small city with not much more to offer other than a lot of vehicle traffic.

We arrived late on a Friday afternoon, in early September, after a long day of travel and site seeing. At about the same time, a greeting line of a large and loud formal wedding party was gathering. Parking spaces, unloading zones, and reception areas were filled to compacity, making it exceptionally difficult to check in.

Because our travel attire was not formal, we felt less than welcomed by the hotel staff.

Eventifully we were escorted to our junior suite in room 204. Along the way, we noticed several areas in the hallways where the carpet was either torn, stained or unraveling. Not something we expected from a supposedly 4 star hotel.

The furnishings of the room itself were ok however, the room did not have air conditioning and the view of the back wall of the the kitchen and the smell was disgusting.

This room is near the road and the noise of the traffic passing all night long., we did not sleep well.

We were originally booked for two nights by our tour company (Tenon Tours) but choose to leave at great expense. ( We did not get credit for not staying the second night and had to pay for a room at a different hotel).

One overnight stay in Adare was more than enough, we wish we had stayed at Adare Manor. .

Hopefully it's not too late for you to learn from our mistakes.

What an extremely nice surprise to find this first class accommodation. There was nothing less than 5-star about this place: the staff, food, room, cleanliness, etc. We learned later that the price we paid was far less than it had been in the past; so one should take that into account when booking lodging in this area. If you need a really nice room in the Adare area, try Dunraven Arms first. If the price is right, book it!

We stayed in Adare for two days for a wedding and were so happy to end up at the Dunraven Arms. It is deceptively big as from the outside it just has a small, country ivy-covered look about it. The rooms are truly wonderful: big, comfortable beds, lots of light and garden views, every amenity you need and a two-part bathroom which makes sharing easy.

We had our 1 and 3 year-olds with us and they were well taken care of with baby cot, indoor swimming pool (which even had swim nappies available for sale! and pool toys to use) and high chairs in the bar restaurant and regular restaurant.

The hotel is, of course, walking distance for everything in the small village of Adare. There is also a beautiful and big park almost right across the street from the hotel which we enjoyed having a stroll in.

My only suggestion would be: given the number of kids who also stay at the hotel, it would have been great if just a tiny part of the large gardens could maybe have a little playground/ swing set on it. I found it hard that there was nothing like that nearby and I think the kids (and parents!) would really benefit from a little place to release energy while staying at the hotel.
