“Adare farm cottage”

This is the best place to stay in Adare. On the farm and away from the the traffic and yet only 5minutes from the shops. The house is beautiful and warm. The kids loved the space to run around and see the calves. Even had a go in the milking shed myself. What a great experience and an awesome place to stay. A definite must for any family or those enjoying a bit of quiet. The owners are extremely friendly. Everything is in the cottage so no need to worry about bringing too much.

Room Tip: The fitness centre is in helping milk the cows and look around the farm

It was such a wonderful experience to stay in a traditional Irish dwelling with the warmth of a fireplace and the lovely Irish decor...it is inviting and cozy. The most impressive throughout the Stone Barn Cottage are the beautiful paintings and sketches by Joan Toomey, the owner (a hobby of hers). It makes the Stone Barn very homey looking. The accommodations were more than ample with all the modern conveniences and spacious w/2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, living and dining rooms plus a washer and dryer in the adjoining larger Thatched Cottage. It is very quiet and peaceful and the property is near the quaint village of Adare. But what makes the stay at the Adare Irish Cottages so memorable is the kindness of Joan...she is the sweetest lady and so fun to talk to. She genuinely wants to share the Irish experience with her guests by recommending restaurants and sites to visit. Her scones, Irish Soda Bread, blackcurrant jam are so wonderfully delicious and such a treat! Looking forward to another visit to Adare to see more of the surrounding villages and sites. And of course to once again stay at the Adare Irish Cottages and see Joan and Mike.

Our stay at these Cottages were the highlight of a memorable family trip. The main thatched cottage is an historic gem, tastefully updated with the modern conveniences yet maintaining its charm. Even the stone barn which is entirely modern inside (not much historic to save in a barn) has a small window opening showing what the structure used to be.
We had 9 family members (maxing out the available bedrooms) and both units were entirely comfortable.
A lot of nice, convenient touches, starting first with the very memorable scones that Joan greeted us with. The two cottages are set back on the owners property, which is still a working farm. The setting was pastoral and secluded, but minutes away from Adare.
We will definitely be back. Thank you Joan and Michael.

I just returned from a 2 week trip in Europe which included a stop in Ireland. It was my first visit to Ireland and happened to pick Adare as our base to visiting other wonderful sites. Although each site was impressive (Cliffs of Moher, Bunratty Castle along with the countryside) nothing could compare to the charm and hospitality of the Adare Irish Cottages.

We stayed in the Stone Barn which was warm, cozy and perfect in accommodating our needs (there were 3 of us traveling). We were warmly greeted at the cottage by Joan Toomey on our arrival at 8:00am (we were earlier than expected) by a wonderful fire in the fireplace, her tasty homemade Scones (the best), Blackcurrant Jam with sweet cream and of course Tea. As we got settled into our new surroundings Joan was busy in kitchen preparing this special treat to only then sit with us to review our plans while we were there. Eager to assist us in any way she could, she even made dinner reservations for us at one of her favorite restaurants, 1826 in Adare Village. She checked on us daily to be sure if there was anything we needed and even surprised us with her homemade Irish Soda Bread which we were able to enjoy for breakfast.

The property itself and it's history is quite impressive being located on their working farm. However it is the warm genuine hospitality that is shown that really makes for a great stay. On a side note I am also in the hospitality industry working for a 4 star, 4 diamond resort. Therefore I certainly understand what it takes in providing a great stay that comes off with ease. This certainly hit all of the marks, spot on. This was my first non hotel experience however based on the this experience I would certainly do it again and certainly at the Adare Irish Cottages.

Thank you Joan and Michael for a memorable trip!

We were looking forward to our stay at this cottage, and we were not disappointed.

Just about 5 minutes from the cute Adare village, which we really enjoyed.

Joan greeted us with her homemade sconce (the best by the way) and the most delicious homemade raspberry jam and whipping cream. She even offered to make us some tea while we unloaded our suitcases. This lady is top notch, what a lovely host.

The Stone Barn is beautiful inside, Joan has done an amazing job with the decoration and it's all very cozy and charming. We walked through the Thatched Cottage and it was truly as pretty and we loved it, when we return we will stay at the Thatched cottage.

Can't wait to return, next time we are planning to stay longer, we loved the place and we really liked Adare …

Thank you Joan, you are a lovely lady !!!

Our family attended a wedding reception in Adare in August this year and for 4 nights we had the pleasure of staying in the Stone Barn. What an absolute treat it was! Joan and Michael Toomey are wonderful host landlords. Joan gave us a full tour of the operations, told us the workings of everything and were available for help at any time. The barn is beautifully decorated, cozy and reeking with charm...everything you would expect an Irish cottage to be. The grounds are lovely and have walking paths for exploring. Just a short drive to the lovely town, it is very convenient and a good home base. My husband, daughter, son and daughter-in-law and myself are all wanting to return in the not too distant future.

Room Tip: There is no bad room! One room is ensuite, other bathroom is very large; window seats and bay window...

We had the pleasure of Staying in the Stone Barn for 2 nights at the end of our recent Ireland trip. It was a cool raw day and Joan surprised us by greeting us and then putting together homemade scones, with homemade jam and a hot pot of tea. (who does this?!?) This cottage was full of the latest modern amenities while being very quaint and cozy. I absolutely LOVED this place. Spotless and comfortable. Our 8 month son was able to stay in the 2nd bedroom on the far side of the house, which allowed us all to sleep fantastic! Joan brought a pack & Play (cot as they call it in Ireland) with sheets/ blankets and a really nice/clean high chair. All worked perfectly. We really enjoyed coming home early so my son could sleep and we could do laundry, all while relaxing in front of the fire. One rainy morning we even enjoyed our coffee in front of the fire before venturing out for the day. We enjoyed walking the grounds and meeting the cows and dogs as well. This cozy relaxation was the perfect end to a wonderful trip, I just wish we could bring this perfect little place and Joan closer to the states!
