danny kelly here...me and a group of lads stayed in this hotel last weekend for a stag weekend and we had an amazing time there...even before we arrived, the help that I received from them (Dee especially) in booking the room was superb....on arrival, the greeting was excellent and for the whole weekend the service was amazing...the hotel is centrally located in the centre of carrick on shannon so it is close to all shops, pubs and restaurants. the hotel also does a package deal with Boda Berg (crystal maze style) experience and this is also worth doing for anybody that likes adventure....i would highly recommend this hotel to anybody who asks in future. it is a comfortable hotel to stay in, on the second night we all ate dinner in the hotel and the food there is lovely and you get a large helping which is good.

Room Tip: book in advance as it is a very popular hotel on the weekends

Initial reception response was excellent and a delight to see coal fire lit in lobby. Check in after long day on road was swift and very friendly . Of note was just how spotlessly clean the routes to the rooms were. Room it self was "of an age" shall we say but as I was only going to be sleeping there one night it didn't really matter: bathroom was excellent though, clean and bright with fast hot water.
But what really blew me and my companion away was the food: OMG!!! the food is to die for! Menu varied but portion size robust (I'm a big bloke) and could not have been better cooked or more fresh. Breakfast was the same, freshly cooked and BIG. Set me up for the whole day.
I have altered my routes when at work in this county so that I will always be staying at this hotel as staff/food/price make it unbeatable. Staff of note are Dee, Celine at bar and Hughie the chef.
Looking forward to next visit.

The room was obviously quite old - broken television, terrible quality mattress. It was tidy but its age made it look a little dirty. The matress was the worst I ve slept on in a hotel.
For €100 per room - It was terribly overpriced.

Breakfast was awful - Microwaved (to re heat) fry.
We ate in the cafe as opposed to the dining room but thats no excuse for the terrible attempt at food.
Also ate in the restaurant. The food here was fine but not spectacular.

This hotel is just going through the motions day to day without trying to impress. A pity as the lobby is quite nice and gives a sense of a once proud hotel dying next to the more modern competition.

Stayed on Sat 29th Dec. Just a small note of advice if you are planning a quiet night away at this hotel it would be a good idea to ask if there was a wedding function on as the loud music from 11.30-01.30 distrupted my nights sleep.

Stopped in Carrick-on-Shannon for an unexpected overnight stay. The hotel was central and convenient. The interiors have a lovely cosy feel with numerous little nooks with open fires. The room was clean and well apportioned. The staff friendly and welcoming, although the reception staff maybe a little too Americanised in there greetings. The bar staff although were very busy had a more natural friendliness and were fabulous and helpful. We had food in the bar which was of a good standard with loads of food available. The breakfast was great with very nice friendly staff.

I have stayed here a couple of times before and I will most definitely stay again. Location couldn't be any better and the staff and service are top notch. Big thanks to dee at the front desk for all her help. (especially after leaving my car keys behind)
