Tierneys Guesthouse
Ranked #39 of 52 Kinsale B&B and Inns

Bedroom OK at first with window open. When closed, realised the full extent of the smell of smoke. It seemed to drench every part of the bedclothes and the bathroom as well. We had an unhappy stay and were not pleased by the staff response which was to blame previous customers rather than take action to stop this.

Room Tip: Do not bother if you are a non smoker or asthmatic

Of all the towns we stayed in in Ireland, Kinsale was definitely our favorite, and the great recommendations from the staff at Tierney's really helped to make it so. The B&B is centrally located right in the heart of Kinsale, easy walking distance from anything you want to do, and the rooms are small but clean and well-kept. Breakfast was top-notch, at the charming little cafe that adjoins Tierney's. When we arrived in Kinsale, we didn't really have a plan to see the city, so we took all of Tierney's proprietor's recommendations and we had a blast! We did a scenic walk around the harbor, explored the town a bit, had dinner at a great local restaurant, did the Kinsale Ghost Tour (which sounds really cheesy but was more of a stand-up comedy act and it was hilarious!), then went to a local pub for some live traditional Irish music. All in all it was a fabulous day, and we wouldn't have known about half of the things we did if not for the great recommendations from Tierney's. Thanks!!

An excellent B&B in the middle of Kinsale... convenient to the town and surrounding area. Staff was great... very helpful when we needed assistance. Room was small but nice, a bit noisy late at night because of the nearby pubs. Breakfast in the Lemon Tree was simply the best we had on our trip. Beautiful town, great B&B... both highly recommended.

If you are looking for spot-on accommodation in the heart of this vibrant town, this is it, complete with caring staff and delightful breakfast conservatory/all day cafe. Only one tiny detail was that our room was rather small - but then they specially gave us an easily accessible one because I had sprained my ankle and found it difficult to use the stairs!

There are many good points as regards this B&B - the location is really great, the staff are lovely, the breakfast in the cafe downstairs is gorgeous.
But...
1. The rooms are TINY. There's no room for bedside tables (just tiny shelves), nowhere to put bags, the en-suite is literally not big enough to turn around in. 2. Our shower shelf/basket was covered in old soap, and some..hairs. 3. The room is so small, there's no socket near the tea tray. We had to unplug the the kettle, plug it under under one of the bedside lights, when boiled, pass it over the bed to pour into the cups! 4. We had three working tv channels, the rest were snow! 5. There were very strange sounds coming from the boiler/water. Every time someone upstairs/beside us turned on a tap/flushed the loo, they might as well have been in our room. This flushing sound seemed to last all night.

We stayed one night here on our last stop in Ireland - Kinsale. Beautiful little town with a lot to do...I highly recommend a visit to this city. The Tierney Guesthouse was to be expected. We had no surprises and we were actually impressed with the size of the bed and the accommodations overall. The toilet was a little finicky - but the bathrooms were clean and the bedding was of decent quality and clean. (My husband was happy to find they provide 2 pillows per person!) We had a nice view of the trees behind the B&B and in the evenings it was so quiet and cool, we loved keeping the window open and had no issues with noise. The hosts were very helpful and kind. The breakfast at the café was delicious. Overall, a good stay. Good value for Kinsale.

Firstly there are a number of pluses- the central location, the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness and the little cafeteria downstairs, but there are minuses- our bedroom had a sloping ceiling(bumping heads constantly), the en suite was unbelievably small and as our room was at the front the noise especially on Saturday night was dreadful.
