“visit once at least”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

this is a very good resturant but a little pricey.
at this stage Fishy Fishy is the place to be seen and that sometimes brings about an attitude. This is not the case here. if you are luck Martin, the owner, will pass through and stop for a chat.

“Well presented restaurant and food”
Reviewed January 22, 2013

We visited Fishy Fishy twice in a recent visit to Kinsale; the staff welcomed us back the second night in very friendly manner. The food is very good--especially for special occasions. It is a nice atmosphere and relaxed restaurant. Well worth a visit.

“Just off the boat fresh fish in a Mediterranean atmosphere with Irish ingredients”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

Love Fishy Fishy and try to visit there at least once every few months. The decor of quirky paintings, marine maps and fish art marries well with the clean architectural lines of the elegant contemporary interior. The menu is brief (and all the better for that) with a selection of daily specials. The head waiter is excellent and the staff are friendly, helpful and attentive. The only downside is trying to decide on what to have- the fresh hake- the oysters- the monkfish or the mussels. We went for the tried and trusted fish and chips ... Delicious with the seafood chowder as a starter and a glass of Muscadet. This is not cheap food but then well presented seafood with top class ingredients rarely is. A visit here is a must if you visit Kinsale and even if you are not visiting Kinsale well worth going out of your way to visit this excellent seafood emporium.

“Good restaurant for special occasions!”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

I like to go here for special occasions! Most of the food is locally sourced. The supplier's photograph's are hanging on the walls! The fish and dessert are so delicious! The choice of wines is also good. Different to other Irish restaurant there comes a delicious salad with the main dish (but you can go the Irish way and ask for potatoes instead of salad).

The only negative thing I can say about this place is the quite small selection of starters (but by skipping or sharing the starter there is more space for a lovely dessert in the end).

If you are planning to go on a weekend make sure to make a reservation a few days in advance as they get busy.

Note that they do not take reservations for lunchtime but with a bit of waiting time you get a table.

“Excellent. But at entry, there most likely will be a wait ahead...”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

On arrival, there was a queue out to the the entrance! But somehow we waited and were told we would have to wait around a half an hour until a table would be available for all 4 of us, so we waited in the town square (just outside restaurant) until our table was ready. I must say it was worth the wait! We all got a 3 course meal each, all service, cleanliness and quality of food was top standard! This restaurant is very handy as it is close to the town (Kinsale).
