“We had our wedding here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2014

My husband and I had our wedding here on the 10th July 2014 and the staff were just exceptional! Nothing was too much trouble and they made our day so special. We didn't have to worry about a thing they took such great care of us and our guests. The food was just amazing and the service really outstanding. The ladies in the Spa deserve a special mention they were so patient and really knew what they were doing and we were delighted with their work and they are such a pleasure to be around. Every staff member was friendly, helpful and pleasant and we would like to say a huge thank you to you all! Huge thank you to Claire for all the effort you put into our wedding and making it so special.

This is supposed to be a 4 star Hotel. Try 2 star.
Arrived on Sunday night 8.00pm went to room. Wanted coffee. Coffee tray dirty no milk. Asked reception. Never arrived. Went to bar looked as if a food fight had taken place, dirty plates stacked on all tables, food everywhere. There was a wedding taking place so thought the staff may have been busy else where. Nice meal, although terribly over priced, in restaurant. Went to room to go to bed to find a big clump of hair on the carpet and when my husband bent to undo his shoes he noticed food all under the bed. We were so tired we left things till morning, although wondering how clean the rest of the room really was. \Next morning we mentioned to reception about the hair and the food they said they would sort it out. Arrived back that evening after an exhausting day doing business to find hair and food still there. Once againmy Husband went to reception to complain. 20 minutes later some one arrived with a hoover to clean. Went to bar, once again dirty plates stacked on tables food everywhere along with menus on the floor. The bar counted was so dirty it was sticky. We asked for an Americano and a Cappucino. The bar person then proceeded to have a conversation with a collegue. 10 minutes later 2 Americano's arrived when told one should be a Cappucino she just put froth on top of one of them.
We were looking forward to taking some spa treatments on the final day but were unsure just how clean it would be. The same has to be said for the kitchens. If they can let their Guests rooms and bar area get like that what is the cleaning of the kitchens like!
This is not a 4 star spar hotel. No robes and slippers in the room. which means no way to relax should you take treatments in the spa.
The staff continue to talk to collegues or answer phones when they are supposed to be talking to you. At tops this is a 2 star Hotel.
The only plus point was the view from the hotels balcony.
At £280 per night this is just a joke.

Room Tip: Try and find a clean one.

Upon arriving at the hotel i was a little disappointed. Firstly its a 10 minute drive outside Kinsale and secondly the vast reception area seemed lacking in atmosphere, albeit with nice views. However the room was excellent (if a little hot) and the staff and service were excellent. The food (breakfast, bar and restaurant) was really good. The service was great and this is clearly a place used to dealing with kids. Special mention to Rafal in the bar who went out of his way to help us. The pool is brilliant for families with a baby pool, kids pool and lane swimming for adults. There is a jacuzzi, steam room and gym. Shane greeted us most mornings and, again, he was incredibly helpful and friendly. Between 7am and 9am the pool is really quiet if u are up with small ones. This place grew on us and, couple of little things apart (rooms are warm, they mucked up our check in which resulted in us getting a few calls throughout the week to see if we "were checking in") we loved it and would definitely return. If, unlike us, you are able to go out partying in kinsale there is a shuttle bus running from the Hotel regularly. They also have a kids club which seemed to be popular (15 bucks per day i think)

One final point to note is that there were 3 weddings on in the 6 days we were there. If you are booking in summer be prepared for this. We didnt mind as we like the atmosphere this creates but we knew a couple who were put off by this.

Anyway - five out of five for the place as its great despite a few wee things. Would definitely return

Room Tip: Avoid being "upgraded" to a lodge. Not part of the hotel. Ask if wedding on and get placed...

Had a great two day break with my mom & daughters in Kinsale, we were upgraded to the lodges which was a great surprise, these lodges are modern, spacious & perfect for families. We had 3 bedrooms all ensuite, leaving area kitchenette, dining area & two areas outside to sit if you wish. We had breakfast both mornings in the hotel, nice selection of produce but very busy so my advise is to eat early. We found it a great location for sightseeing around The Kinsale Area, we will be back

Beautiful hotel and grounds. Wish i could have stayed longer.
Kids loved the pool and we loved the setting and shuttle to town (although I think the pricing is a little high per person).

Staff was great.

We stayed here for two nights for a family occasion. The hotel is quite a long way out of Kinsale and not particularly easy to find. The location is stunning though with lovely coastal views. The room was comfortable but the lighting in the bathroom was so poor it was risky having a shave.

The WiFi is very poor and limited, The lifts were slow although in fairness only one was working.

The highlight is the breakfast in a large airy room with great views and wonderful selection of fresh food.

In my view a bit pricey for what was on offer.

Room Tip: Higher floors have better views but the lifts are a bit slow.

What a wonderful experience we had recently at family wedding , the reception staff met us smilingly and unflustered , when they explained the outdoor wedding we had been expecting was, due to the weather , have to be moved indoors , they set us up in the bar with teas coffees etc while we waited , no fuss , we went on to the room itself for the ceremony, what a transformation !! how hard the staff worked to make it happen so quickly , it set the tone for the whole day , nothing was too much trouble , all needs were met in a friendly professional manner , the attentive staff , could not have done more for us , the manager made his rounds during the reception and was so welcoming and attentive , it was just brilliant ... I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone and have been back several times for a quick lunch and more leisurely dinner in magnificent surroundings yet so close to Cork City .. thank you again just loved the experience
