“Out of town, but very quiet and comfortable.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2009

Further out of town than we expected and a bit hard to find while they are re-laying the road, but very nice clean and comfortable once we had found it. Also not so far to walk down into town. Purpose built, so good size room and ensuite, breakfast was very good.

My husband and I traveled with another couple and spent one night in Kinsale on June 27th. The roads are a little tricky and extremely narrow but we had a GPS which helped us navigate. The road we would have liked to have taken up the hill was closed for construction, which was the only obstacle to finding the B&B.

Val greeted us at 6:30pm and showed us to our rooms, which were gorgeous. They were tastefully decorated, extremely clean, and each had their own telephone. My friends have severe food allergies and Val was extremely accommodating to their dietary needs.

Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. We also ate at a wonderful restaurant called The White Lady. HIGHLY recommend that place. We walked down and back to it, and the hill the B&B is on is not that bad if you're in decent shape. It would be challenging for someone who is elderly or isn't that healthy, but for a group of 29 year-olds it was not an issue.

We were lost as soon as we got into the town of Kinsale. Two good samaritans called Brian on their cell phone and he soon arrived to lead us through the winding streets. Even though we arrived about two hours late, we were warmly greeted and given a hugh room on the front of the house. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and the breakfast was delicious. Our hosts gave us good advice on what to see and where to eat and helped us with directions to our next night's lodging. I would definitely stay here again.

Brian and Val were one of the nicest, most gracious couple we met during our vacation recently . Their B&B is very clean, modern, comfortable and breakfast is wonderful. Wouldn't stay any where else. We got lost on our way to the Woodlands, and called Brian and Val. Brian came and found us, and made us feel very welcome.

Beautiful purpose-built B&B just up the (long, steep) hill from downtown Kinsale. Views from our window were wonderful Although we gave up on the "walk to town" idea very quickly due to the length and steepness of the hill, we really enjoyed our stay. Our hosts were very gracious and breakfasts were sensational, especially the coffee (the very best that we had in Ireland) and wide menu selections (french toast with bacon was superb!). Our room was very spacious, with comfortable sitting chairs, a great view, and very tasteful decorations. The mattress and pillows were among the best that we experienced during our three-week visit to Ireland. The large comfortable sitting room and wireless internet were very welcome pluses compared some to other B&Bs. Although the price was a few euros above average, it was definitely worth it. We stayed here a week, and enjoyed very minute of it.

I booked the room on line after reviewing several Kinsale B&B's. From location map on line was a bit decieving, it looked alot closer to town then it really was. When we first arrived, I was a bit disappointed with how far away from downtown we were, but my attitude quickly changed when I saw our room. Comfort trumped location at this place. Our room was HUGE, comfortable, and we had an amazing view from our window of downtown Kinsale. It was the most luxurious B&B we stayed at during our 8 day trip through Ireland. Our hosts were polite and answered our questions about the town. Breakfast was plentiful in a spacious room over looking a sunroom and garden area. We drove into town for dinner and drinks and our host suggested a free parking area. We met several locals and talked for hours over pints of Harp beer at the Muddy Maher Pub. I have to say the pub was my favorite part about Kinsale. The locals made it a great night for us. They were so interesting, funny, and social that we felt immediately welcomed. The bartenders were great too, they intereacted with everyone and there was alot of "craic-ing" going on.

This review is long overdue. We had a wonderful stay at Woodlands House in June 2008. We had 2 rooms for our family of 4 ( older teens ) Both our rooms were beautiful and clean, Val welcomed us with tea and conversation. Woodlands is up the hill away from the busy town area. We enjoyed the quiet and lovely view of the harbor from the front of the house. I think some guest walk to town -- but we always drove. The hill back to the B&B was just too much after a day of walking.

We happened to stay here after a busy Bank Holiday weekend where they had had every room filled. By our stay we were the only ones. We felt quite spoiled at our private B&B! The french toast breakfast was our favorite of our trip.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay in Kinsale. Some favorite things were the walking tour with Barry Mahoney, the Tuesday open air market , Charles Fort and a drive out to see Old Head peninsula & watching a crystal cutting demonstration at Kinsale Crystal.
