Very friendly owner , good hospitality and excellent breakfast . Rooms very clean and spacious .Would be a nice base to tour the surrounding area .Would recommend unreservadly .Owner offered us tea on arrival and also offered to drop us to a local hotel where we were attending a weddding in her own car - now thats what i call exceptional customer service

Room Tip: Look for room no 3 - nice view over town in the distance . Room very spacious . No traffic noises

Beautifully appointed upmarket B&B. Efficient, friendly service and an excellent breakfast. Excellent views over the town and the bay. Rooms specious and well laid out. We only stayed one night but next time we will use it as a base for some touring. The town itself is worth spending some time in as well with lots of bars, shops and good restaurants.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have the view over the town and bay which is well worth it.

Pros: Our host tried to fix our car mirror, then referred us to a nearby mechanic who fixed it for free in minutes! Whew! That was a relief. Breakfast menu--awesome if you are a wee bit tired of the "full Irish." The home is picture perfect, it was easy to get our luggage to our rooms (not too many stairs), nice views from the top of the hill location--you can see the water if you are looking for it, but just a little. I don't remember any guest noise, and definitely no traffic noise.

Cons: It is definitely up the hill from the town of Kinsale, and a little bit dark walking home at night (although we didn't use a flashlight). There are closer B&B's I would be curious about, but it was a busy weekend in Kinsale, and Woodlands House was available and nice. Although we had printed out directions from the website on how to get there, in a moment of weakness we relied on google navigation--which took us through some pretty tight and windy roads. There was a cold snap in Kinsale, and our room was pretty cold. Our host showed us the call button we could use to ask him questions, but I was too shy to disturb him at night when I realized how chilly it was--totally my fault. Some people didn't even seem to notice how cold it was--they were wearing shorts and eating ice cream while I was wearing a long wool coat and wool hat!

My travel companions and I stayed here recently. The reviews said it had a view to the ocean but I didn't see it. The home was very tidy and neat however. Although the owner was outwardly friendly, she was very militant; because of our travel plans, we planned to be on the road the next morning to continue our travels through Ireland and prefer to shower at night. She advised us somewhat sternly that it was not advised to do so because the shower and exhaust fan would disturb the other guests. We tested the fan and water early in the evening and both were very quiet. Her directives made us not feel like guests that couldn't relax and feel comfortable in her establishment.

I would not recommend this B&B to others. It seemed clear she was more concerned with her ratings than making her guests feel at home because at the end of our visit, she asked us to provide a favorable rating.

The welcoming genuine friendliness and warmth we received from all other locals wasn't experienced here.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of Woodlands House following your brief stay with us in Mid September. As you and your friends were in a triple room on the ground floor you would not have had harbour views from this room. We are sorry to hear that you were not happy with aspects of your stay. Please accept my sincere apologies if it appeared to you that I was abrupt to you in any way this certainly was not my intention.
Hospitality is of utmost importance to us as is the comfort of our guests. Our aim in for our guests to have a quiet, restful night and a good breakfast before they begin a new day.
I hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday in Ireland.
Kind Regards,
Valerie

Our only regret is that we only had one night to stay. The Woodlands House is located in a beautiful spot that is a short walk into town. The room was very nice, the wifi worked great, and the breakfast was wonderful. We enjoyed the food and talking with the other guests. The owners were very helpful and engaging and assisted in making it a nice stay. Kinsale is a must and so is this B&B.

My girlfriends and I stayed here for one night. It was quite difficult to find thru the windy roads through the town of Kinsale. Very precious and picturesque, but the hostess was very rigid, and businesslike. We wanted to be able to shower at night, but it was suggested that we not do so because the water and fan running in the bathroom may wake the other customers. I did not feel as if our comfort/needs were as important. Hostess indicated she was very interested in her ratings, but I cannot give it anything exceptional.

Kinsale is a beautiful place; Woodlands House gives you peace and tranquility with a short walk downhill into town. Valerie and Brian are excellent and interested hosts who make one feel at home. The accommodation is excellent and the choice for breakfast tantalising. We much enjoyed our stay, Malcolm
