Having read many reviews about Landfall House my husband and I decided to reserve a room there for our visit to Kinsale and we were really looking forward to it , the moment we got to the town I was worried, it was so hard to find, it took us over an hour to find the B&B and when we did it there was nowhere to park, the area in front of the house was full of cars and my husband was worried about the rental car, when we asked the lady who checked us in about it she was not very concerned and told us it would be quieter later, it was not, we went out and retuned a few hours later and we had to park on the very narrow road outside the property. We had hoped to walk to the village but this was not possible as it was located a long walk and up hill from the centre. Our room was ok, smaller that alot we stayed in but it was clean, my husband kept hitting his head on the ceiling and the bathroom was crampt. The view of the water was very distant and was out over many roof tops. Breakfast was fine but at that stage we just paid our bill and left feeling very nervous about the choices we had made for the rest of our trip but we need not have worried, apart from this one we had a very plesant trip to Ireland, even with the rain!!!

The landfall is more like a modern house, then it was some of the older B&B's. There was an excellent view from our room, and it was nice to have more options at breakfast such as crepes and smoked salmon. Margo was extremely friendly, and there was a good wireless connection in the room.

However a warning the Landfall was extremely hard to find, even with the map from the website. There was no way to put in coordinate in the GPS that we received from the rental company, and although the road existed in the GPS, it wasn't the same road that the B&B was on. We stopped for directions several times to no avail, We finally had to just cal and ask our host to stay on the phone until we got there. Also Kinsale is curvier and has more hills than san fancisco. So unless you're used to driving on hills, you should ask for direction around the town, rather than through it.

I am a journalist and have been travelling three or more times a year since I was 11. My travelogue goes anywhere from Sri Lanka to Kenya, US, Poland, Russia, Morocco, Tunisia, Sweden, Australia...

I always stayed in hotels and never tried a family b & b. I've never bothered to write reviews but we do want to share the Kinsale experience.

My partner and myself discovered a warm welcome, clean and serene environment in Landfall House.

Margot, our host is simply a committed person towards offering an outstanding service to her clients.
The breakfast is unbeatable...it reminds you of home. We loved Margot's pancakes..actually we fell in love with them and tried them out at home...We've named the recipe "Kinsale pancakes" :) and the salmon and scrambled eggs are yummie...

We live in a house of character ourselves and appreciated each and every decor in this well-kept country house. It's so cosy and you can immediately sense that there's love and energy put together...

If you're carrying your laptop with you, internet is free of charge as Landfall House is equipped with wireless internet too.

For those who are looking for a relaxing, off the hassle and bustle of major european places then Kinsale and Landfall House are the perfect option. In a span of 6 days we discovered the beauty of intact scenery, peaceful environment and finger licking gastranomie.

On our second day in Kinsale we've planned a very easy itinerary. We never left comments after our trips but this time around it was different! May we share a few tips to fellow visitors.

If you're renting a car this should work perfectly...If day 1 you're travelling then day 2 is an 'easy' relaxing day.

Day 1: Discover Kinsale Port...simply watch the fishermen coming in with their catch and admire the beauty of the colours enriching the town's winding roads.

Day 2: Discover Cork City - Only a 45 min drive away...Visit the butter museum, hang around in the city, window shop... and look out for Operas or Irish Dancing representations.

Day 3: Do take the Scilly walk. From Margot's house to Charles Fort you can enjoy breath taking views. Charles Fort is unique. This historical building is sprinkled with the bright modern palette colours.

Sit down on wooden benches admire the sailing boats dancing on the waves. We've enjoyed the whole experience...

Day 4: Fishing time. We rented a rod for just 10euros...It was our first 'fishing' experience. Let us say: we gave it a shot! A great laugh for beginners like us!

Day 5: Cape Clear Islands. We travelled to Baltimore...It's a 3hr drive from Kinsale. Then a fishermen's ferry takes you to this picturesque island. Don't forget the camera...seagulls love to pose....

Day 6: Discover Sandycove. Only a 5 minute drive from the main port. Park the car and go on foot to discover the immense beauty of the unspoilt countryside. Butterflies, berries, grazing cows, horses....and the fresh uncontaminated air!

And while in Kinsale don't miss the Kinsale beer of course....it works out perfectly at night hanging in one of the many traditional bars. And guess what? There's a special fishermen's recipe...fish cooked in batter and Kinsale beer....

Kinsale is a 10 out of 10 experience...We were actually considering to retire there one day.. who knows what's in store!

We have just returned from a wonderful 4 night stay at the Landfall in Kinsale. The house is situated on a quiet road in a residential area about 10-15 minutes walk from the centre of Kinsale, and is beautiful and well looked after, with tasteful furnishings, but with a very cosy, relaxing and welcoming feel. Margo is very friendly and easy to talk to and made us feel at home straight away. Nothing was too much trouble.

Some rooms overlook the spacious front garden whilst others have stunning views over the sea and Kinsale. For breakfast there is a choice of cereals and fruit, along with toast, soda bread and fruit loaf, plus cooked breakfast, scrambled eggs etc...

Kinsale itself is lovely with an amazing number of restaurants for such a small town, all excellent quality with fresh produce and a variety of seafood. If you prefer, like us, to stay a little outside the centre when you are on holiday, but within easy walking distance, I wouldnt hesitate in recommending the Landfall for a relaxing and comfortable stay.

What else can we say about Landfall other then that you get more than what you pay for. You can expect 5 star treatment. Let me just describe the room which my husband and I stayed in. It has a big luxurious bed which you just sink into and it is decorated with a neutral coat of paint and is incredibly quiet and tranquil.
Our en-suite was also immaculately decorated. It really was like a top class hotel. We didn't expect to get more than value for money at landfall but we certainly did. Margo as you can see from other comments is an exceptional host. Friendly and kind. You can see that she has a genuine interest that you have a good stay. Her breakfasts are tastefully decorated and the B&B never fails to impress. Stay there and experience it for yourself. My husband and I will definitely be back!

We stayed at Landfall House for two nights, with our college-age daughter who had been studying in Ireland. We loved it! The family was so helpful, personable, warm and real. The house was beautifully decorated, breakfast delicious, room charming and comfortable, and they have an amazing view of the town and bay. Margo and Donny and their family really made our experience special, with their easy conversation and Donny's cheerful singing in the halls. I would love to stay with them again and certainly recommend it to others. The short walk to the center of Kinsale was a pleasure, and we were happy to leave the car safe at the house. Kinsale was beautiful and charming. Perhaps the loveliest day was spent walking leisurely along the bay through the next village to Charlesfort, enjoying everything along the way.

We have spent one night there and it was just amazing! As soon as Margo has shown us our room, we were like "oh my". It was fantastic indeed, maniacally clean and very cosy. Plus Margo and her husband were so friendly and nice as we were staying in our home and the place itself is located on a very quiet road far enough from the noise of the town but reachable in just 15 minutes walk. Looking forward to visit them soon again. Definitely!
