Cafe Paradiso recommended that we try The Black Pig, so we did. What a great recommendation, as we stayed all evening! The wine selection is fabulous, the slivers of cheese that we were given (cut off using a great little toy!) was lovely and our cheese board was delicious! I really do hope that this little gem of a wine bar goes from strength to strength as so deserves to do well.
When we next return to Kinsale from Northampton, we will definitely return and, if we lived near Kinsale, I fear we would never leave here....until closing time!

Kinsale has some lovely wine bars and restaurants but this is something really different. The Black Pig has nice atmosphere and it has a real Spanish Tapas Bar feel about it. We went on a Thursday and it was very busy and it is probably advisable to book. I love the idea when you have booked a table they chalk your Christian first names on the wall above your table a nice touch! There is no pressure to eat there you can just drink the wine, They have an extensive wine list and the platters are delicious. I personally think the wine is little overpriced but then again it is all priced up on the menu and the choice is yours.

The Black Pig is a fantastic new wine bar in Kinsale. The centrepiece of the room is a large bar and a cosy wood-burning stove, book cases and armchairs lend a warm, welcoming feel. They serve a well thought-out selection of tapas style dishes like meat plates, cheeses, pates, oysters and smoked salmon, all sourced from local suppliers. Great to graze on while sampling their impressive wine list, with a large number of wines served by the glass. They also serve a range of bistro style hot dishes like beef bourguignon and fish pie. Delicious comfort food! The chocolate truffles and pralines, which are made by a local chocolatier, Koko of Kinsale, are to die for! Everything is excellent value. So, if you're looking for somewhere with a warm and buzzing atmosphere to have a glass of wine or dinner, head to the Black Pig! A great addition to Kinsale's already impressive culinary scene.

Kinsale badly needed a mid range eatery/wine bar & black pig delivers. It's small, & a reservation is usually needed. Casual; chic interior; feels like you could be in any modern city. Food well sourced though could do w better veggie options. Overall, it's a great addition to the town.

Dear Madeleine,

Thank you so much for taking the time to review the black pig. Apart from our locally sourced small dishes we put one hot supper dish on the menu every evening - which has been a meat dish over the last few weekends. If you would like a vegetarian or a seafood dish prepared please call us prior to your visit to discuss - we would be more then happy to discuss our other options with you. We have been preparing vegetarian dishes for customers upon prior request. Thank you for giving us the opportunity here for letting people know.

Warm Regards
See you again soon at the black pig!
