Great little cafe with the best home made cakes and sandwiches. The owners are really nice and have done a great job with the decor. All the food is made on the premises. Try their Victoria Sponge cake! Great value as well.

janey macs is a quirky olde worldy style cafe. they have open fire burning all day , so its really cosy. they serve very good coffee in quaint style cups and saucers. all there cakes and scones are homemade and delicious. the atmosphere is very friendly relaxed and welcoming. if the raspberry scones are on ,try them they're delicious. well worth checking out this cafe, just push aside the curtain at the door and enjoy!!

“Delicious cake in a cosy and friendly atmosphere”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

I went to Kinsale for a one-day trip and had my dessert at Janey Mac. Cake was delicious, the cup of coffee was huge and the price was not too expensive. Moreover, the owners are really friendly and the atmosphere is great. Thank you!

“Mix of old & new”
Reviewed February 7, 2013

Janey Mac's is a relatively new café in a really old building in Kinsale. I love the fusion of a building packed with character and fresh bright really tasteful New England-style décor. It is so nice to get a welcome when so many other places don't bother or care, even when you are a repeat customer. I have become a repeat customer because of it, as well as the food being nice.

Unfortunately the menu is extremely limited, could do with being wider (both food and drinks). If you are a cake fan, you will be tempted by the goodies under the trendy glass domes. I can definitely say that their jam sponge is the freshest I have ever tasted and not surprisingly it was homemade that morning. I have never seen such generosity of a layer of cream in a sponge either! It is so nice to see homemade cakes on a menu.

I have to say the care and attention to detail extends to the loo there - spacious and beautifully decorated, not a forgotten space at all, with that personal touch of individual facecloths to dry your hands instead of a noisy handryer. The bathroom has always been clean, tidy and well-stocked.

My only negatives are the narrow menu, service sometimes slow and that it can be chilly in the café despite the fire being on. However, that is not enough to prevent me going back over and over.

Oh and they do takeaway slices of cake.....

“An absolute hidden gem- best lunch and coffee in Kinsale!”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

Having worked in the food trade for years and indulged in some of the best in london and kinsale. I have to say this is the best place I have tried for years. Kinsale has many options to have lunch and cake so i was abit dubious but this has completely blown me away. Why? Coffee.... The best in kinsale...Everything homemade ( i hear one of the owners did training in ballymaloe), cakes to die for.. Scones, try the fruit ones! Atmosphere.... Fire, cosy, friendly, honest and top value for money! Great addition to kinsale and will make sure I am back on my next trip to kinsale. One bit of advice, come early and it's get very busy and getting extremely popular....however the wait is well worth it..!
