“Blue Heaven”
Reviewed May 26, 2013

Just home from a lovely weekend in beautiful Kinsale which was made all the more nicer because of the staff at the Blue Haven Hotel.

From the moment you enter this Boutique style Hotel you know that you are welcome. The receptionist on our arrival was more than polite and helpful. We stayed in Room 16 which is right at the front of this centrally located gem.

The room was spotless and spacious enough for two, with free wifi (excellent coverage). From the receptionists too the manager and on to the house maids the attention to service is quite unique and sadly lacking throughout the hospitallity in many establishments we've stayed in throughout Ireland so this was a welcome exception.

The food is quality with a capital Q. From the huge choice selection at breakfast to the bar food and the Bistro it was all 100% fresh local Ingredients. We ate here most of the time and given the culinary competition in Kinsale and my appetite thats a huge compliment. The service from ALL of the staff is attentive and genuine.

There is on street parking for 1.20 per hour midweek days or 3 minutes away its free. Evenings and Sunday its free on street parking.

The bar was comfortable and cozy and the free live music every night had this bar buzzing!

We weren;t disturbed at all even though we had a front room and the bands played until the early hours.

This was a real treat. I will not be going to Kinsale again unless I get a room at the Blue Haven or Its sister the Old Bank Townhouse.

I didnt find this hotel and its prices anymore expensive than similar hotels and restaurant prices in Dublin so It wouldn't be an issue.

Its a small hotel but its got a romantic charm and history.

I cannot recommend it more highly.

This Hotel is far from Blue!!

I think they should drop the Blue and add an E to ............... HEAVEN

Room Tip: Room 16 is at the front and its cozy and perfect for two.

I recently organised a Hen Party for 27 ladies @ the Blue Haven so needless to say I had a lot of contact with both Toni & Naimh at reception to coordinate the perfect weekend - everyone I spoke with, emailed or met couldn't have been more helpful, nothing was too big an ask! :)

The weekend itself was fabulous, we had such fun at our Cocktail Class in Hamlets with Michael, followed by a delicious meal in the restaurant. The bedrooms were gorgeous and the breakfast the next morning was SO good! The package itself was great value for money.

All in all, a fabulous weekend in Kinsale! We're only looking for an excuse to stay again!

Thanks to all at the Blue Haven

Ok , so I used work here- irelevant. My Wife , 3 kids and I just had a meal here and it was faultless , the service and genuine friendly nature of the staff towards us and the guests around our table was commendable , exactly the ', cead mile Failte' that Irish hotels and business's strive for - the food was delicious - happy kids = happy parents , so well done again. The manager on duty 'Monica' was on top of her game , organised on a busy evening with still time to check on costumers We shall return !!

We paid a little more to stay here than we had in the rest of Ireland. We have to admit we were a little disappointed with the quality of the accommodations. In addition there was work being done in the café below our room until 9 PM at night. The music in the pub was great. The parking is abysmal. The service was unimpressive. The hotel issues a page long list of rules that you must comply with if you wish to stay with them. For the money we would recommend looking someplace else in Kinsale.

We recently spent a night in The Old Bank House, part of the Blue Haven Hotel, in Kinsale.
Our room was absolutely fabulous, spacious, modern decor, extremely comfortable beds and beautiful bed linen, etc. We had a generous en suite with lovely toiletries supplied. Tea and coffee, etcwith biscuits were on a tray in the room.Next morning the included breakfast was second to none. Generous helpings of homemade fruit salad, home made yogurts, tea, coffee and homemade bread and toast were available. The cooked breakfast was generous and very tasty. I would love to stay there again and would have no hesitation in recommending it. Also, we had dinner in the Blue Haven restaurant and I now understand why Kinsale is called the Gourmet Capitol, our meal was outstanding, such fabulous flavours and portions the correct size. A wonderful experience.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of building are large and sunny in the afternoons

I ate here twice in one day over the past weekend. Firstly to escape from the rugby field for an hour and sat at the bar and had a large bowl of probably the best bowl of seafood chowder in the world, well maybe I was cold and extra hungry but it was darn good. That evenin my son and I went to the bistro and indulged in scallops and black pudding, oysters, lamb shank and an excellent Thai curry. It was busy service was fast and no complaints.

The hotel and it's facilities wonderfully represent the amazing town of Kinsale. It is gastro heaven with a great atmosphere. The staff are clearly trained to a high standard as they couldn't be more helpful. It wasn't my first visit and it won't be my last.
