“An enjoyable end to our holiday”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

After admittedly not very good weather, we had a great hour cruising the harbour in lovely sunshine and gentle waves. The commentary was informative and the cups of tea most welcome(though we could have had something stronger if we wanted).

“A very Fair Voyage!”
Reviewed August 21, 2012

We really enjoyed our recent trip on Kinsale Harbour Cruises.
It was the perfect conclusion to a few pleasant days in Kinsale.
Having cycled along the Scilly Walk it was interesting to see it from the sea perspective.
The boat was sound, bright and comfortable and the welcome was genuine & friendly.
The weather was a bit sunny and a bit rainy, which added to the visual experience of the sea scape. Interesting details on the harbour were communicated both by recording and also directly by the Jerome the skipper. The trip was not overly long, and very good value even without partaking of the complimentary coffes & teas. Would happily repeat the experience if stuck with family relatives to entertain.

“Overpriced, underwhelming, nothing you can't see from your car or Charles Fort”
Reviewed August 11, 2012

We had a great experience cruising the Dingle Harbour, so we thought we'd go two for two in Kinsale. Boy, were we in for a disappointment!

The boat took a while to load, since tickets were only sold on board at the advertised sailing time. After a 15-minute delay for ticketing and boarding, we were underway. The "tour" consists of a soporific recording outlining a basic history of the town. While the history is ample, the tour doesn't cover geology, ecology, or social issues. The narrator's monotone voice doesn't help matters. A live narrator would vastly improve the experience.

The route, moreover, doesn't show you any sights you haven't seen from your car driving into Kinsale. We expected that the boat would go farther toward the ocean for views of the distant headlands surrounding the harbour. Instead, it circled the harbour in a loop.

Go to Charles Fort and take Dermot Ryan's walking tour if you really want to learn about Kinsale. If you just want to sit by the water and admire the scenery, go to a bar or cafe on the waterfront and skip this cruise. (One point in its favor, which didn't apply to us: kids are free, so it may be a good diversion for families. And if you didn't go to Charles Fort earlier in the day, as we did, then some of the harbour views may be new to you. But all in all, this cruise just didn't go far enough to make it worthwhile.)

We thank you for having taken the time to submit your review. We regret your negative experience. We are what we say on the tin- a harbour cruise and are liscenced to be a harbour cruise. Harbour in a European context might be different to that in an Americain context.Kinsale Harbour is by definition from Moneypoint on the west side to the Eastern point on the eastern side.. this outlines the outside extremity of the harbour as well as the extremity of the cruise and under no circumstances are we permitted to travel outside of this limit. This is quite clear from the information delivered from our website, brochures and tourist office- this is not an ocean cruise!I regret that you estimeed my voice to be monotone- this is the first occasion for this kind of feedback - and point taken- I will endeavour to fluctuate my intonation.. With regards to the recorded commentry- a live commentry is often offered , this is dependant on audience demand, weather and time constraints. It is made quite clear in the commentry that should the audieence have any questions or desire for further detail/conversation on the history that they are most welcome to bring same to myself for further discussion- indeed this one of the aspects of the cruise that I most enjoy and welcome. We place ourselves in the historical category , this being my educational background- it would be pretentious of us to propose otherwise, geology, sociology or ecology are not our subjects of expertise. Regarding the views offered on our cruise- again a first this kind of feedback... it is difficult to imagine how the views of Charlesfort, the blockhouse , Jamesfort etc from the waterline can be superseeded by the view from a car.We absolutely agree that it is very pleasant to view Kinsale from a waterfront cafe- we however aim to offer a different experience to the afore mentioned.

“The perfect way to start a visit in Kinsale:)”
Reviewed July 21, 2012 via mobile

I got to the boat a bit early, but the crew invited me in out of the rain and offered me coffee and hot tea! The boat is clean and comfortable with a "back porch in summertime" feel about it. The trip was beautiful! We got really close to some historic sights and got a gorgeous view of Kinsale and Summercove you would otherwise miss. The Captain was full of information and was so happy to chat with with folks or answer any questions and I got some killer shots of the old fort when the sun peeked out later in the trip. Thanks for a great experience:)
