My family (2 adults and a 6 yr old and 13 yr old) is just back from a three night midweek break in Inchydoney Hotel, which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Apart from the fabulous setting, the hotel staff were friendly, the food was excellent and the room was perfect for us. Because the weather wasn't brilliant, we availed of the pool quite a lot which the kids loved, and I found the Spa to be thoroughly relaxing. We can't wait to go back.

My wife and I are just back from a very enjoyable stay at Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa. From the moment we stepped into the hotel we were made welcome by the manager and staff. On checking in we were informed that we had been upgraded to the Inchydoney suite which consisted of the main bedroom area with four poster bed, a lounge area with 180 degree views of the beaches, bathroom and balcony. We feel this suite is, maybe, one of the best for the views alone and also has plenty of space to relax in. We ate in The Gulfstream Restaurant the first evening and both thoroughly enjoy our meals. Saturday we were blessed with good weather so we were able to go for a nice walk on the beaches, most of the people in the sea were surfers or people from a nearby surf school. Parking can be a bit of a problem when you have hotel guests and surfers/swimmers using the same car park, then throw into that a wedding party in the afternoon and spaces become a premium! The second evening we ate in Dunes Bar & Bistro, again we had a very enjoyable meal with a few drinks. The only downside during our stay was when we ordered breakfast to our room and found it warm at best.

In summary, we both had a very relaxing stay. We both enjoyed the food, surroundings, views, thought the manager and his staff were very courteous throughout our stay. Yes it is expensive but I think most people know what to expect when they go to book their stay, we did not try any of the spa treatments....maybe next time and I'm sure there will be a next time!

Staying 2 nights.
On arrival made to wait for room to be made available, complimentary tea and scones while waiting. When we were take to the room the lock would not work, returned to lounge, complimentary drink. Back to room, locked worked but what a surprise!, dust everywhere, hinges hanging of wardrobe, safe not working, dirty dressing gown, hairs in the bed etc. Manager informed who was not interested in seeing room, sent Accommodation Manager (who was very concerned and we appreciated her help). Provided new room, a lot better but showing signs of wear.
Lounge as the room showings signs of wear.
Service for breakfast on the first morning was fine, second morning different experience. Had to wait in lounge for table to become free, then waited another 30 min for coffee/tea after we had finished breakfast. Staff were more interested in clearing tables than seeing to the guests requirements. On a positive note, great location and beach, nice food in Bar. Accommodation Manager did try and rectify problems and make our stay more comfortable.
Previous to this hotel we were at The Lakes in Killarney, completely different experience, shame our holiday ended at the Inchydoney.

Beautiful beaches.
Depressing room decor - black, old.
Hotel interior needs revamp.
Food ordered arrives, but not water ordered, or coffee, or rye-toast.
Serving of plates, and removal, are a painful ordeal.
Hotel needs a manager who can manage!!

Stayed here 2 nights. BAD POINTS (1) Weather was great but downside of this is that you have to compete with locals( using beach) for car space and outside dining area. When I asked why there is no car space for residents I was told that they have the locals business when we are gone in quiet times. (2) Bar really busy, noisey and chilly at night as outside doors left open Nice lounge upstairs but children were playing hide and seek racing around. Service here was so slow despite loads of staff. (3) service at breakfast was awful. We waited 45 mins for porrige. People were directed to wait in lounge for a table but half the tables were vacant but were not cleared. No organisation at all. (4) We were overcharged by 200 euros for food and drinks. Completely different names on slips you sign. Reception blamed people giving wrong room nos.GOOD POINTS (1) Fab Location. Great views.Lovely beach. (2) Food lovely in dining room at night for dinner. Staff and service were excellent here. We left here to go to The Cliff House,Ardmore. Paid same price but what a difference. Management should spend a day there to see how things should be done.

Had heard it was a spa hotel, luxury, relaxation, all the rest of it, because of their ads. However it's slap bang in the middle of a car park on the beach and full of families, naturally, because of the beach location. Kids everywhere, which is great for them and their families but not so much for people without kids looking for a bit of peace and quiet. It was August, so we should have guessed, but the ads do make it sound different.. Hotel fine, bit bare and ugly on the outside, which is a shame as the location is lovely, beach and sea, can't beat that. Ground floor rooms definitely to be avoided, you get a sea view but you might as well be sitting in the car park. Staff friendly, breakfast good. Real issue is that it is so much a "family hotel" - absolutely overrun by kids, everywhere, always running around corridors, shrieking, in the bar etc. Great for them, lots of facilities, beach, pool room etc., but just be warned if you think you are going to a relaxing adult spa destination. Leisure facilities ok, pool a bit ugly aswell, one great thing is no kids in leisure centre in evening, there was a little bit of peace and quiet at last.

I stayed at Inchydoney with some family and friends last week. It is the friendliest hotel I have ever stayed in. All the staff greet and speak to you, no matter where in the hotel you meet them.

We were met by the duty manager when we checked in and were offered Irish Mist or a soft drink - what a great way to start on any break.

The lads went surfing each morning, which is just beside the hotel. They loved it. While they were on the beach we went to the spa. I tried the newest treatment in the spa tropical treatment. It was amazing - I really thought I was on a tropical island. I had the best sleep after it.

Breakfast each morning was amazing. We got to sit by the window overlooking the sea and beaches one morning - the view is really amazing. My son is looking for pancakes "like Inchdoney" since we got home. (He had two portions, both morning he loved them so much).

We ate in the bar both nights - great choice of menu. We shared the seafood platter one night and it was fabulous, there was something suitable for both kids and adults. The pub was busy but great fun.

The resident's lounge is gorgeous and would have like to have spent more time curled up with my book there.

Would highly recommend it.
