Deasy's in Ring has to be one of the best restaurants in West Cork. Have been here several times over the years and it is always totally reliable. Have brought numerous friends on different occasions too and all have found it the same! Not cheap indeed - but excellent food and lovely atmosphere, along with excellent service. Plenty of lovely fresh fish options being right beside the sea and serving locally caught fish. However if steak is your preference they do the best steak served probably anywhere!! Book a window table to take full advantage of the lovely view across the bay. Arrive early then too for a pint on the decking outside or else inside at the bar counter. In the winter there is a lovely cosy open fire burning. One word of warning re the car PARKING - the restaurant is on a very tight bend with space for only 4 to 5 cars in front (park rear in for ease of getting out). However there is some space for parking on the road around the corner tight in against the bank. Otherwise the best option is to park on the PIER just down the road along towards Clonakilty - only a short walk away. Plenty of space here and safe in off the road. Looking forward to our next return to Deasy's!

Excellent food, simple but full of flavour. Obvious
Y where the restaurant is set in Ring fish plays a major part on the menu, and it's wonderful.
The view from the window seats is stunning.

I think this is the best fish restaurant in West Cork defiantly in Clonakilty. Highly recommend you book an evening meal and relax for a few hours. Start with a relaxing glass of Murphys and choose from the excellent choice of fish and fine wines end with the pancotta it's probably the best in the world

I have just returned from Sunday lunch at this restaurant and am sorely disappointed by the service and the food.

We waited almost 30 mins for our starters to be served. This would have been almost acceptable had the starters been works of culinary art. However they weren't. I had a buffalo mozzarella salad which was literally chopped up mozzarella on top of a plateful of rocket with a tiny bit of balsamic vinegar and a minuscule amount of red onion. My mum had a slice of duck pate with 2 small slices of toasted bread roll with salad on the side. Nothing spectacular and mine was particularly bland. So much so that I couldn't finish it.

Then came the long wait for our main courses. Over 40 minutes without so much as a nod or glance from the staff. Our table was effectively ignored for that length of time. When our food did arrive the waitress said "Sorry for the delay, you were just behind a lot of other tables". A response which does not relay good customer service.
Yes its a bank holiday Sunday but that should have been taken into consideration when staff rotas were being done to ensure that service was efficient and timely. Had the waitress approached our table at any stage during the 40 minute wait and apologised and explained the delay, it may have improved our experience somewhat.

The main course then was ok. Nothing too amazing. I had the chicken which was supposed to come on a bed of lentils with onions and roasted beetroot, all I got with it was the lentils. Again, less than satisfactory.

We didn't bother having dessert or tea or coffee as we couldn't sit there waiting for any longer. In total we were there for almost 2 hours for just a starter and a mains. Not acceptable in my book especially when a Sunday Lunch is €32 per person, not including drinks. I will certainly not be returning, nor recommending Deasy's to anyone in the future.

We have been to Deasy's many times over the years and it is always fabulous. It is not only the stunning setting, it is also the food which is extraordinarily good. Local ingredients, very interesting flavours, fish done to perfection and all served with meticulous attention to detail. The special factor is that is all feels incredibly relaxed, effortless and like a traditional Irish pub and yet it is wonderful very time. Yes, it's more at the expensive end, but considering many other places in West Cork charge the same if not more for less quality and worse food with grotty service, (I could think of a few!) I think with this you get what you pay for.
