We booked for 3 and were advised we would be in the newly converted courtyard as the main/old restaurant was full, we didn't mind as we love the ambiance of the old place and love the food and agreed...... How disappointing!! The place was full with tables squashed in anywhere they could, one unfortunately blocking a fire exit on the way towards the rest rooms. We felt we were in a cattle market and our thoughts drifted to if this is change forget it. Our other thoughts were is this a case of greed! We
asked if another table was available but unfortunately not. So we
prevailed..... The noise level was deafing drowning out not only ourselves but the guitarist. Our waiters were fab, but they were twisting side to side
uncomfortably through the over crowded place (good job they were slim and
trim). They smiled and were attentive throughout our uncomfortable ordeal
because that's what our night had become not what we were looking
forward to. The tables were marble topped, cold, no table cloths, very small
wine glasses, luckily our waiter got us some real ones after asked for them.
As we expected food was its usual first rate ...excellent but surroundings uncomfortable. At desert we were asked if we wanted it in the old part to
which we did not hesitate and jumped into atmospheric warm clothed table
where we were able to hear each other speak nobody near us and space. Our overall opinion was stick to the old... prices are the same in both parts but if your lucky you will have a clothed table, space, large wine glass and comfort! 10/10 for food...... Other 5/10 sad to say.
