“Very welcoming and delicious food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2014

I only enjoy restaurants where they make an effort to source local food, use food that is grown without chemicals where possible and don't use microwaves. These people care about their customers and the food they serve.
We were meeting 2 friends and we chose Macroom as the half way mark. I had no idea where we might get good food in this town but when I looked it up I read about Church Lane restaurant and it was just as good as it promised.

“Simply delicious”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 20, 2014 via mobile

I ate here on a Friday evening with a few friends and we decided to try the tapas...all I can say is that it was absolutely delicious! I had the meatballs and the patatas, the meatballs were so tender and coated in this beautiful tomato sauce!! I found it to be a really trendy restaurant, the songs playing in the background create a fun atmosphere, the staff were ever so friendly and helpful and the food was just simply delicious! An all rounder in my opinion

“Great to have fabulous food served close-by!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2014

My fiancé and I visited the Church Lane yesterday for dinner. Having recently moved to Macroom, we were keen to try this restaurant after hearing good reviews. All I can say is...top class!!!!
We had the starter and main course each and are excited about going back again and again till we've tried all the other items on the menu. Trust me...we couldn't fault anything in this charming little diner.

“Foodie Heaven Hidden In Macroom Co Cork”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2014

Checking Church Lane's website after our recent vist there finds the headline 'Foodie Heaven in an Unique Setting' and looking back on it, we couldn't agree more. However, we would have to add to the 'mix' the input from staff. Don't know about you, but we've been noticing how standards of service seem to have slipped in Ireland, but this can't be said about Church Lane. There's a certain line between attentitve and discreet which is hard to get right and the special 'laid back' welcoming atmosphere found here, starts at the top and is practiced by all Church Lane staff. And then of course there's the food. It's not every time we find ourselves enquiring what's in a sauce, but on this visit it had to be done. It came with my delicious hake and had more in it than the simple menu description of a 'fish cream sauce', delicious. That was from the Á La Carte menu, one of three on offer, the others being 'The Early Bird' and 'Tapas'. Well able as well,to cater for the gastric nuances of my 'gluten-free' partner, sisters Cheryl & Laura O’Connor (with the subtle assistance of father Stephen) have cleverly and tastefully transformed this original sextant's lodge into a top class, comfortable homily restaurant, by keeping the original internal walls and rooms. With subtle modern decor and colours, this creates the illusion that you are eating at home. Not only does the food taste homemade, but it sits at a gourmet standard, if that isn't a contradiction, a standard less frequently found by accident in Ireland these days and to be celebrated when it is. So much so, that we've made a second visit there, just to 'make sure' that the great value and fantastic food was what as good as the first time. It was... and better. This is a classic 'hidden gem' in the food world and as 'fussy foodies' we have been impressed. Accolades and awards may follow, but we found it first. With starters from 5.95 and the majority of main courses under 20 euro (bar the steak, duck and hake), prices we believe, sit just under the average for a great meal which is both clever marketing to a general customer in their early days of trading, but more importantly, gives the genuine 'foodie' good value for money, which will ensure repeat visits. The wine selection is well above average and we commented to ourselves that someone there knows their wine, given the tidy, but classy selection. And that's so important to some of us who appreciate the basics that sometimes get forgotton in service, like the wine arriving at the correct temperature, which it did of course, on both occasions. The chef has his or her operation absolutely sussed..Local ingredients, like the now brand-emerging Toonbridge Buffalo Mozzarella, add uniqueness to flavour, making a visit to Church Lane for lunch or an evening meal, just that little bit different, that little bit special. Lunch outside, under canvass is also a summer option here, but alas given our climate, the standard of sun may be just the only thing that disappoints on a visit to Church Lane, Macroom Co Cork.
