The hosts make you feel like one of the family. The music is arguably the best Irish music in Ireland. The surrounding area is phenomenal. Do yourself a favor and make this your base for visiting Southwest Ireland.

We were taking a trip to Killarney Saturday morning for the day and planned to stop here for breakfast. My wife had rung ahead the day before to check and was told breakfast was served until 10 pm. OK so we left home a bit earlier than planned. When we arrived in Ballyvourney at 9:30ish, I noticed the sign outside saying "food served all day". Great, feeling a bit peckish now, :-). Parked up at the rear and entered through the open door of the bar, it turns out this may have been our fatal mistake! Bar was obviously not open, still, no problem we strolled over to the adjoining hotel restaurant end where we could see two guests enjoying breakfast. At this point we were approached by a lady member of staff who was serving the guests and clearly was very unhappy to see us, potential customers. Sensing the hostility, My wife apologetically said, "do you serve breakfast?". The gruff reply "are you a resident?". "Well, no, but ....". "Residents only! You know bars in Ireland do not open until 10, wait here!" points to table in the darkened bar, she then walks away and returns about a minute later. My wife says "I'm confused, I thought you served breakfast......." "Just wait here", points again at the darkened bar table, "If you take a seat I will get you breakfast!", she walks away again, having had enough of the Mills Inn at that stage, so did we. We got in our car and drove the 30 mins to Killarney where we had a lovely breakfast in a hotel restaurant. Here they served a full breakfast until 11pm, welcomed non hotel residents, and employed friendly staff. Guess where we will be having breakfast on our next trip to Killarney!

This is a great place to stop off on the road between Cork and Killarney. The bar is always busy for food which is a great sign. Went with a group of friends on a Saturday evening after our way back from a hillwalk in Kerry. The food is all really good and there is great choice on the menus. Staff are friendly and service efficient as well. Overall very good value. Opted for the roast of the day which was Turkey with a very generous portion of Veg and Potatoes. For desserts many of us went for the Ballyvourney bomber which is a very nice brandy snap basket with a scoop of brown bread ice cream in it. Choc brownie was a bit tough but other than that would highly recommend!

Just back from Mills Inn, very warm atmosphere in there, food as we expected was perfect, had fish and chips, roast of the day(beef), and chicken nuggets for kid (there was kiddie menu, which is very handy, cause lot places we missing this). All meal was perfect, beef soft and tasty, fish was with no smell of old oil. One thing we were missing, the fresh salad, we didint check the menu, maybe there was it as a separate dish.
We enjoyed our short stay, also prices here are very reasonble.
Will come back for sure.
Best of luck.
