15 min walk from the DART station in Malahide, the Castle stands in the middle of a large and very green lawn. The botanical garden behind the Castle is one of the 4 botanical gardens they have in Ireland, and they're pretty proud of it. I think the garden must be better to see during spring and summer. I found it deceiving. But the castle was very beautiful. The guide spoke a very understandable English. But the visit was too short. I told them about that and they said they are preparing some other rooms for visitors, so, maybe in a few months you will be able to see more. When visiting the castle, you literally jump into the past and travel into it. Each part of the castle was built during a different century. The fee is around €8 for the castle and the botanical garden.

This was our third visit to Malahide castle. We had not been for a few years so thought we would like a wee reminder of it's charm. It did not disappoint. It is a lovely castle to get to know and the tour is very well presented with lots of prior information available on the ground floor before you begin your tour. It's well worth a visit to see both the castle and huge grounds. We have been lucky enough to see it both in winter and summer and there is always plenty to see. Since we last visited there is a new courtyard and a wonderful Avoca shop with deli and restaurant. Thoroughly recommended.

Visited the castle over Christmas with my family and young nieces and nephews who were due to visit Santa. We were greeted with mulled wine and mince pies and had a wonderful tour meeting Mrs. Claus and Santa himself. During the tour we disturbed Mr. Scrooge and met several other characters as we toured the castle. Both kids and adults had a great time. Highly recommend a visit to the castle and it's grounds. We also visited the Avoca shop and cafe which is highly recommended.

Travel to the castle is accessible from Dublin using the train system. The castle is small and can be toured in around half an hour. You can also walk around the grounds to view the plants.

A great way to spend a rainy afternoon.... part of the gift in touring this castle is the knowledgeable guide that takes you through it. They are all so very eager to share the history and the stories of the families that have lived in and owned the castle. While the tour was only about 45 minutes long, there is still plenty more to see and do. You can walk the grounds as long as you wish, and there is a beautiful walled garden that you can mill about in. They also have an Avoca restaurant & shop that you can have a meal in the cafe and peruse the specialty items that can only be found in Avoca. The gardens are so relaxing to walk around in, great way to spend half a day out and about while in Ireland.
